The converter is not made to be supported by the flex plate you will get vibration,eventual flex plate failure and possible pump damage the back of the crank is the support and center for the converter the flex plate does just that flexes and will not stay true .

Not to sure about that either since the trans depends on the dowel pins for supports , Alot of people think the bolts are what keep it from twisting on the block but in reality all they do is hold it against the block , The dowel pins keep it centered and from twisting

i have heard that some people that use the gm spacer on the front side of the flex plate sometimes need to mill about .100" off the spacer, i have not ran into this issue
