Default How long did it last poll

I'm just curious as to how many miles ya'll have put on the old Automatic before it died. So far I'm at 132,000 and I'm trying to blow it up but haven't had any luck, these transmission's seem to be pretty darn stout. List mileage when it went out and what exactly happened to it. This could be educational....

Mine held up to about 200,000 before 3rd and 4th were gone. That was about 6000 miles after dropping in the 383.

That's not too bad, I was curious because I'm installing my cam in two weeks since I'll have four days off from work and everyone has been telling me my transmission will fly apart. I hope it does so I can go ahead and get my T-56 installed.

Mine lost the 3-4 clutch packs at around 70,000, the car was stock until 60,000, and bolt-ons when it blew up...I feel like I was a little unlucky...

My stock one lasted about 130k, not bad mostly stock motor, and lost 2nd gear. I had one built by a local guy and it lasted 26k before losing 3 and 4.
Put a TH400 in and fixed the problem.

55K miles.

Bolt ons early on, stall at 30k, cam went in at 40k. Good amount of track passes and it finally started slipping at 55k one day while hotlapping it at the dragstrip.

Put in a stage 3 max evil and it took a dump after 6k pampered miles (defective band). Now have a level 4 FLT, hopefully it way outlasts the max evil unit. If it lasts as long as the stocker (25k well modded miles) i'll be happier than a pig in ****.

it'll be dead real quick. RPM's kill 4L60E's faster than anything. if you touch your shift points, say bye bye to the tranny. i'd give it 2 months tops if you daily drive it and go WOT regularly. GM rates the 4L60E at a max shift RPM tolerance of 6,000 rpms. in reality, the rev limiter is set slightly higher, but 6,500+ rpm's is a death sentence. start shifting at 6,800 rpms and it's a gonner.

After the STS and stall converter my tranny only lasted 2,900 miles when it started to slip shifting into 2nd gear. The car only had 78k on the clock

I drove my stock tranny for almost 40000 miles AFTER I had the 383 installed (which went in at 62000). I put a 3200 stall in it and it didn't last a month. In fact, I just blew the rear sprag and smoked 3rd and 4th again! I pick it up in an hour and then it's a guessing game as to how long it'll last again.
