I cant tell much from the PIC if it has grooves then yes . However if its smooth and just shiney where the rotors have been on it and there no dip it may be fine , Just cant see it in picture.

If in doubt replace it but without a better picture it would be hard to say a good rule of thumb is if you cant quicky and easily polish it out with 1200 sand papaer its to much .

Right... polish it lightly, rinse it well and then see how it looks. As a rule of thumb (no pun intended) you should not be able to snag a fingernail on any of those grooves as Predator mentioned. For the $$$, if you are concerned replace it. Better to have a known good part then to have something that is questionable in the unit.

no you cant polish it but you can grind it out. Some shops have the proper machines to grind down pumps.

They just have to grind down the center pocket and then grind down the worm track area the same amount. Most pumps can be saved, we do it at my shop all the time. We have a Van Norman pump grinder.

Thats pretty much exactly what happens when a large company manufactures a pump. Except they do it on a much larger scale, we do it for our own rebuilds, to help keep the cost of a rebuild down.
