Go for it. I had a 3200 stall in my car for a year after the heads and cam install and it was still plenty fun to drive.

I've had both. The SS3600 is definitely much more streetable. On the street, the only time I missed the YTP 4200 was punching it from a roll on the highway.

I went from a vig 3600 to a yank ss3600. the Yank rips 2nd harder than the vig. I have yet to make a pass on the yank though.

What do you expect to lose when you're dropping that far down away from your peak hp? That's the trade off of the smaller, more drivable converter. I'd still swap. You just said you don't track it, so why should half a second matter?

I don't see dropping 8 tenths going from a 3600-4400 converter so I can't see you gaining 8 tenths by switching from a 4400-3600. There's not a question which is the better converter for n/a applications. it's the 4400. But if you're looking for driveability, i'd go with the 3600

I would think going from stock to a 4400 would be 5/10 to a 8/10 drop. I would guess it would be more along the lines of 2/10 to 3/10 from a 3600 to a 4400. The biggest gain of an aftermarket converter comes from bypassing those low power RPM. At 3600 you're pretty much entering the power range. I have 2 camaros. One with a 4200 and one with a stock stall. I daily drive the stock one now and really would not put anything higher then a 3600 in a daily. I did daily the other one for 2 years though along with 4.10s so it's not horrible.

Wanna swap for a PT4000? The 4000 might be a tad more streetable and my high RPM horsepower curve would really like the 4400 converter better. Just a thought. Thanks.

On the converter swap you're proposing I can add that I went from 8.20's with a PY3400 to 7.80's once I switched to the PT4000 when my car was bolt-on's only. Not ever headers yet. The shift extensions on those lower stalled converters simply let the engine fall too much out of the powerband for acceptable track performance.

That is so full of sh*t, its not funny. Mike needs to go bitch slap his staff.

A loss of .2 is realistic; .3 if you have a real top end cam and 4.10s.
