Default 4l65e converter in 4l60e?

I was recently given the converter out of a Silverado SS which as I'm told has a 2200 stall and I was wondering if it would bolt into my 4l60e Camaro. Thanks for you help guys. Oh and if anyone has truck parts lying around I need a manual transmission for a 4x4 Chevy 1500 truck with a 4.3l.

That's a very good question and one I have not seen posted here previously.

The 4L60E and 65E torque converters are identical. The differences between the units are internal to the transmission itself. Basically the 65E was built to be more durable by using 5 pin planet gear sets and other mods.

The converter will work however I do not think that the stall of that converter is much more than what you have now. It might be a waste of time and effort to swap it.

I guess what my point here is that if it's only rated a few hundred RPM's more, is it really worth it? Now if you were to go from a stock converter to say like a 2800 or higher then it would make more of a difference. I just do not think that converter is worth the time and effort of installing it, for what you are going to get out of it. Vince

I see. I was thinking the same thing last night... it does seem like a lot of trouble to go through for a minimal change in performance.
