Angry brand new tci th350 no 3rd gear

well i just got my 1962 nova conversion out on the street for the first time. i was ready to see what the car was going to do. i just installed a 2001 ls1 and a th350 manual valve body trans from tci. i was quite disappointed when i shifted into third gear and no gear change. i pulled back inthe garage and checked my shifter adjustment, it was perfect. the competition trans only has a 90 day warranty if anyone has info on where to start looking for problems i would apprecite it thanks

then you may have a sticking shift valve or a problem with the modulator/governor do you have a vacumm line hooked up to the tranny with manifold vacumm supplied lets start there first

Some manual VB's still use a vac mod to control line pressure. Is there an aluminum plug in place of the modulator?
I take it your 90 days are up?

Have you tried to contact them to see if they will do anything for you? If not you let me know if you would like me to take a look at it for you. Vince

Well sure it could be a valve body issue, but it is all speculation.

If you would like for us to take a look at it call me tomorrow.

There are really only two options its a valve body issue or a direct clutch issue , I would bet on the valve body, Even though its out of the (90 day warranty?) I sure if you called them TCI would help you figure it out

are the 1-2 and 2-3 shift valves in the valve body supposed to move freely or be stationary for the manual vavle body. i took my valve body off and the valves do not budge. it looks almost like they were pressed in to a certain spot. thanks for the info just trying to learn something

I think they should be pined for a reverse pattern valve body.

Doesn't really matter what kind of warranty it has, might as well not even have one. Its a TCI trans....good luck with getting them to take care of it for you.
