Do a search, I read up on it a couple years ago in this forum when I was gonna do it.

Also, the ratchet shifter's suck. I drove a friends car with one and it was gay. I have a b&m ProStick and it's awesome...Look into it.

I use the stock shifter with my th400, have had both a reverse and forward valve body and worked great.

do you use the same bracket off the 4l60e? the reason i ask is the little ball on the stock bracket needs to be used right? it snaps on the cable.

We welded a piece of metal on the end of it, same width, just long enough to go to the next hole on the th400 pan. The bolt holes are just slightly off on the th400 vs the 4l60e.

Same concept yes, I'm not positive the bolt holes line up exactly the same though.

This will help you out

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...actory+shifter

Stock Shifter-
Can you use your stock A4 shifter with TH350/400? Yes, The stock A4 shifter can be retained if you have a forward valve body in the transmission.
The mount tabs on the transmission end of the shift cable can still be used but you must drill a hole in the center of the other 2 holes and use that hole to mount it to one bolt on the tranny pan. It lines up perfect.
Inside the car, no changes need to be made. When you shift to 1st on the tranny, your shifter will only come down to the 2nd gear position on the shifter, so don't try to pull it back farther. Park, reverse, neutral all match up fine.

Yikes, bringing this back from the dead but assuming you use the stock shifter for the swap, you wouldn't have to worry about trying to make the reverse lights and neutral safety switch work right?

Correct, I had my stock shifter on my th350 for a bit before I picked up a quarter stick and they all worked as they should.

Sorry, but adding to a thread that has been dead for 12 years is against our etiquette. One reason is that everyone who posted on that old thread will get a notification of a new post.
Once you have contributed to 100+ thread, you will understand this.
The better way is to start a new thread and in your first post link to the old thread in case anyone wants to read it.

I am closing this thread.
