Torque Converter Time...Again

Torque Converter Time...Again
Hey guys I have asked about tourque converter companies in the past about TCI, Yank, Vig, and I thought I was going with a TCI 3000 Lock-Up but I decided not to get it just yet(had to save up the money). During the time of saving up for installation and parts and among other things, I had came across a shop that does it right near me, Lee Myles Transmissions. Went there this morning and got a price qoute for TC, Labor, Fluid, and Cooler along with labor of installing the cooler. Whole thing came out to be about $1285. The TC they suggested is Dacco. Now before you guys tell me to search the forums, I already did. But the posts were about a year old. I was wondering If anyone has ANY knowledge at all about this company(Dacco). And also if you guys know of any shops in the New Jersey/ New York area or the West Palm Beach/ Southern Florida area that you guys have had experience with I need to know.

Dacco is one of the largest remanufacturers of converters in the country and has been around as long as I have. I have used there performance converter but thats been several years ago and They worked fine had no issues, Now unless somethings changed on the 2800 up stall they were not avaialble with a lockup clutch may be someting you will want to ask about,

The Daaco unit they are trying to sell you is a 12" rebuilder converter. It would be a HUGE waste of money. Go with Yank or Presicion Industries, and avoid TCI.
TTP is up in the NJ/NY area

That price seems high ... you can get a TCI for about $500, or a Yank or Vig for $700, a cooler for $50, and you should be able to get the install done for about $200. Total = $750 - $900.
I'd get a Transgo shift kit for another $100 and have it installed when the tranny is out ($100-$150). For less than you are prepared to spend you'd have a great set-up.

Vig or Yank 3600+ 700 with a cooler and install should be no more than 200-350...

Yea I knew you guys would say things along those lines. I got the same replys the last time I was trying to pick a converter. I really appreciate everyones responses. Oh and RevGTO, I have a B&M shift kit in my trans all ready(I think they are the same thing if not please tell me the differences, I love learning new things!). Also, the prices you guys are giving are they from performance shops or not cause so far the lowest install price I've gotten is 350 and the only other shop that is 200 for install is Tick(as stated on their website, too bad they are in NC). You guys also have to remember that my car is a DD and I drive it from NJ to FL and back every year to go to college, so my question is how streetable is a Vig3600 for someone who is not changing H/C for a while(I give it three years before I do), also what cooler are you guys running/ does it matter which company?, and I've read on the forums recently that most of the guys on LS1tech don't run the snythetic fluid in the A4's how come?

I would go with a good Yank or a vig. These converters have been the most reliable converters in my units. Keep in mind I have customers running every brand of converter out there. Some swear by other brands and others have been haunted by them. The two I listed above are the only two you should be considering for your combination. I wish you well. Vince
