700r4 Clutch and band chart

The input sprag holds one way and free wheels the other its used to transfer power to the gear sets in all forward gears except for 4th when its free wheeling. When it fails you will have no movement in the OD position but can go in the D21 positions as the overun clutch will come on and bypass it. Its located in the input drum.

1- FORWARD CLUTCH TRANSFER POWER FOR FORWARD MOTION EXCEPT FOR 4TH GEAR
2-2-4 STOPS THE REVERSE INPUT DRUM ARRANGING PLANETARY TO MAKE THE SECOND GEAR RATIO
3-THE 3-4 CLUTCH MAKES 3RD GEAR DIRECT DRIVE
4-THE COMBINATION OF THE 2-4 BAND AND THE 3-4 CLUTCH MAKE 4TH GEAR RAIO POSSIBLE
5- THE LOW/REVERSE CLUTCH SERVES TWO FUNCTIONS IT ALONG WITH THE REVERSE INPUT DRUM CAUSE REVERSE AND WHEN YOU PLACE THE MANUAL LEVEL IN LOW I IT COMES ON AND IS USED FOR BRAKING EFFECT IN LOW
6-THE OVERUN CLUTCH COMES ON IN ALL THE LOWER MANUAL GEARS D21 AND ALSO CAUSES THE BRAKING EFFECT WHEN OFF THROTTLE.
7-1ST GEAR IS SIMPLY THE LOW ROLLER CLUTCH HOLDING WITH THE FORWARD CLUTCH ON
