Default Transbrake Effects

I was thinking of installing a transbrake with my system so I can build boost off the line. Does having a transbrake really kill the tranny over time?

Why not use a 2 step to build boost off the line it's cheap and it works?

Only people I know who do tbraked 4l60Es are RPM and Rossler, however I havent met anyone who could build me a "forged 4l60e" thats a one of a kind setup you got there bro...

LOL. . .
Yep, that's a new one on me as well.

I honestly don't think any 4L60e can stand up to a transbrake, but that's just MHO.

As for a transbrake killing a tranny over time, that depends on the tranny. A well built TH400 or TH350 or PG will hold up for a long time. Anything mechanical can wear out or break over time, depending on how much horsepower/torque you're throwing at it. I killed quite a few 4L60e trannies before I finally wised up and got a TH400 built for my whip.

Good luck with that "forged 4l60e" you have there.

If i recall right theres a video of a wheel stand of a user running a 4l60 with a brake.

Honestly if you are going big put a diffrent trans in it for a good brake. Consider a 4l80e with a brake, strong as can be with over drive

The only reason I say that is because I just put all the best parts I could buy into the rebuild...beast sunshell, z clutch packs, etc...It does pretty good considering evryone in the tampa area that has had their tranny built the same way by the same guy are going 9's on a daily...

Sorry man, just having a little fun with you with that terminology. "Billet" is what is usually the word used for race prepped internals.

All I can tell you is my experience with the 4L60e trans, and I have gone through my fair share of them.
If you continue to beat on one, even if the hard parts are good billet parts, just remember that the Achilles' heel of that trans is the 3/4 clutch pack.

You put enough HP down, and you'll find out for yourself. Just trying to save you some headaches and $$$ on rebuilds. Have fun.

We have a T-Brake in our 4L60E and so far so good. I've only got 28 passes with the brake because we haven't gotten competely comfortable launching it yet. At least not during a competitive event and we race a lot. The Circle D 4L60E itself has been beat on quite a bit, but it's got all the good stuff in it and it was built right.

The T-brake launch mentioned above is in my sig.

We'll be testing it more soon. Traction will be the challenge with the hot Texas weather.

Props on the wheelie, not too often you see a 4l60 hold this! They definatly know what there doing with a 4l60. Do you have a 2step?

Yeah I do have a 2 step. I doubt I'd ever be able to hook straight off the converter with this 3.06 1st gear and even if it did, it would be a high risk launch. Been there off the footbrake so I'm a bit more careful these days.

Yeah it's a lower rpm rev limiter that holds the rpm at your selected rpm and releases when you release the transbrake button.

You can hear it bang out at the very beginning of the clip. That's the 2-step rev limiter cutting out the cylinders.

I hope that makes sense.
