•Ford's Mustang V6 Performance package is renamed in a Facebook contest that drew more than 3,000 entries.
•The winning entrant, from North Carolina, gets a three-year lease on a 2012 Mustang with the Mayhem Mustang package.
•The package bundles a 305-horsepower all-aluminum V6, a 3.31 performance rear axle, Mustang GT-based suspension and braking components, unique 19-inch wheels and Pirelli performance tires.

DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford's Mustang V6 Performance package has been rechristened Mayhem Mustang package in a Facebook contest that drew more than 3,000 entries.

The package bundles a 305-horsepower all-aluminum V6, a 3.31 performance rear axle, Mustang GT-based suspension and braking components, unique 19-inch wheels and Pirelli performance tires.

Ford said nearly 6,700 Facebook users downloaded and installed the automaker's You Name It app, and more than 3,000 submissions were received. Facebook fans then could vote on their favorite name.

The contest winner, Jeremy Marler of Charlotte, North Carolina, receives a three-year lease on a 2012 Mustang with the Mayhem Mustang package.

Ford said the Mayhem Mustang package will be used as the name on all Mustang sales, marketing and communications materials.

I think that is great that Ford is going to offer a performance handling package without forcing the buyer to buy a higher trim. Now if GM would let you get cars with the best engine w/o all the thrills.

Mayhem Package, I love it. Very good marketing ploy too.

I honestly like the latest body style, especially in that grabber blue or whatever with gunmetal wheels. Really pops.

Seems like I'm the only one who thinks that this name is pretty lame.
But maybe it is because when I hear "Mayhem" I think of one of the greatest metal bands...and not a car that's slower than a regular GT.

No, I think of those funny Allstate insurance company commercials with Dean Winters (the guy from Rescue Me).

"I'm a teenage girl. Now, I'm emotionally compromised. I'm all... OMG! So, get Allstate. You can save money and be better protected from mayhem like me!"

Mayhem? Hmmm. I dunno about that one. When I hear Mayhem Mustang I think of the car from Death Race......not a sixxer pony.

I wonder what the other entries in the voting were...

Don't care for that name on that car. I like the V6 performance package numbers I've seen, but unless they remove that ridiculous speed limiter, the only "mayhem" is when the engine wants to put out more speed and the computer says "NO!"

The only problems I've heard of were for the GT. This would be the V6.

I know they use the same transmission, but I haven't heard of any V6s having the same issues that some GTs are having. Which would make sense, because the MT-82's torque rating is less than the GT makes stock, but the V6 isn't gonna get there N/A.

I do like the car though, a bone stock Mustang V6 went 13.5 a few months back.
