Default 2014 Z28 Pricing - $75K

Definitely not a car for commuters.

Chevrolet has announced that it will charge a whopping $75,000 for its upcoming 2014 Camaro Z/28 when it goes on sale this spring. That sticker price includes a $995 destination charge, as well as a still-unspecified gas-guzzler tax.

Perhaps the raciest bits of the Z/28 package are the tires, with Chevy saying the 305-section Pirelli PZero Trofeo R front rubber is "believed to be the widest front tire on any production car." The tires are mounted on lightweight, 19-inch forged aluminum wheels that should just fit around huge 15.5-inch, carbon ceramic front brakes from Brembo (slightly smaller, 15.35-inch ceramics stop the rear wheels).

The only thing that your $75k doesn't buy you is air conditioning and a six-speaker stereo – that single Z/28 option asks an additional $1,150. We say skip it – racecars are supposed to be hot and too loud for music, anyway.

C7 Z06 pricing is rumored to be $90-100K...

Regarding the Z28 (since I never posted my thoughts), I think the pricing is about right for what you get. The problem I have is the use of Z28 for this car. This is a race car. The Z28 was an option package back in the day, similar to what the 1LE is now. To me, the 1LE is what the Z28 should have been, and they should have used another moniker for this car.

Still, given all the tech and performance in this car, the price feels about right.

In 67 when the Z28 option package was introduced it was designed for the TransAm racing series. They built 602 to meet the requirements for a production car.

In short it was intended to be a race car.

Price seems kind of fair for the tech you'll get, but damn it's a lot of money!

Most of them will be collector garage queens for sure. They will probably appreciate as well especially if GM keeps the total amount built low.

Wow. I was thinking it would come in around $60-65k.

I'm sure it will end up a collector car though. I think it's the best looking 2010+ Camaro to date.

Who in their right mind would go with this Z28 for a track car? The only people that would are those for which money is of no worry. I guarantee a used C6Z would *** rap this thing around any track.

i don't see many Z06's being sold at $90-100k. It should be around $70-75k tops... If they want the sales like the last one they need to keep it in that range. Keep the ZR1 into the $100k range

The new Z06 will likely be that expensive. It will no longer be a bang for you buck car like the C6Z was..

Have they even guaranteed a new ZR1 on the C7? Maybe a base Z06 would come in at mid-80s, but even the C6 Z06s could be optioned up to nearly $100K. Given that this is the ultra-performance version of the halo car, and given GM's recent price hikes on nearly every new vehicle they've introduced, I don't see $90-100K being a stretch (unfortunately).

It's a limited edition model aimed at collectors anyway, it's not like the price is going to demote its core market from buying it.

I think the prices are right for the Z28 & the rumored Z06 price. I mean look what you get in the Z28 & whatever to come for the C7 Z06! Its a lot but still lower then its competition which is what matters

What is the Z28's competition? Boss Mustang? GT500?

i agree with you. i feel the z28 option sould be close to the ss option. like in the 4th and 3rd gen fbodies. maybe do a modded version of the 1LE.

They already offer the 1LE to go against the BOSS and ZL1 against the GT500.

The Z/28 aims at the Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. Euro super car performance was the benchmark for this project so it's on a whole different level of performance as well as engineering and modifications.

the prices are just getting too out there for some of these cars... They are all losing their bang for the buck title with the increases in price. Yeah you still get alot of car and they may beat cars far higher in price but they are STILL a Corvette and if they price them too far up they won't sell **** and that's bad news for Corvette

That's what I was thinking too. Something that not only seperates itself from the sea of SS's and V6 look a likes but also brings slightly more HP and maybe a more aggressive look.
