USA Claims Top Speed Record

IDK...
On Top Gear, James said that the Bugatti test driver went 273 in one direction. So, apples to apples makes the Veyron went faster. Regardless, we're talking about speeds that the normal owners of these cars will never reach. I'd buy the Hennessey before a Veyron even though Hennessey's got a bad rep for making mules out of customer cars.

I passed on sharing this yesterday for a couple reasons:
A Ford GT already went 286mph... I wonder how much faster it may have gone on a 3mile run rather than a 1 mile run?
I have to say the title really should be with the Veyron. It did the test as required, running 2 directions and getting an average.

Title states in the article “World’s Fastest Production Car”
It meets the production car requirements, like the Bugatti. They are not considered one of a kind prepped streetable race cars, though with tongue in cheek we know they are.
Not discounting the GT, it is very fast, so was the Camaro that ended up wrecking, it went 263 with a $25k body that was $25k new.

When did hand building 29 cars qualify as a "production" vehicle? That's why they put their term "World's fastest production vehicle" in quotations... it's a statement on their end, not necessarily a fact by known standards.
25 must be built within 1yr(FIA) and 30 by Guinness) and it doesn't appear that number will be achieved here. Besides, it's NOT actually a Hennessey car. Sure, they modified it, but what did they really build here? The ordered turbos and fabbed that up, so I guess they built the turbo system. The engine is directly from GM and I suspect the ECM came with it. The body is clearly a Lotus... What's production here???
Also, a true production car isn't one you simply order by brochure. It's one on a dealer lot which the public has access to see and purchase and Hennessey is very clear that their "serious" customers contact them... but not the rest of you...

I believe that's the one... black 3rd gen. I'll try to verify, but all I did was read about it and saw no photos. I have see plenty of that stupid fast black one and think that's it.
Of course, Gale Banks team prepped 88 T/A ran 283... in like 1997... He's built so many record holding vehicles, I can't remember when which did what!

The Koenigsegg One:1 is fitted with an in-house developed 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which produces 1,340hp (999dumkW) at 7500rpm and 1,371N·m (1,011lb·ft) of torque at 6000 rpm. Total weight of the engine is only 197kg (434lb) thanks to a carbon fiber intake manifold and the aluminum construction.dum
EDIT I dunno wtf happened with that copy and paste..fixed now
