Default Chrysler unveils Viper-based Firepower

Detroit, Michigan – Chrysler unveiled a luxury sports car concept based on the Viper chassis today. The rear-drive Chrysler Firepower features a high-performance 6.1 litre Hemi V8 engine and a five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick manual shifting capability. The Chrysler Group estimates the Firepower has a 0 to 100 kilometres per hour time of less than 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 282 km/h.

Computational Fluid Dynamics modeling was used to shape the Firepower's body with aerodynamics in mind: proper engine cooling as well as down force in the rear were taken into consideration.

"As designers, we challenged ourselves," said Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President, Chrysler Group Design. "How could we best encompass such strong Chrysler models as the Crossfire, which began the brand's move toward a higher level of performance and elegance, while looking to the most extreme expression of engineering and design such as last year's prototype, the ME Four-Twelve? Chrysler Firepower uniquely bridges these two worlds."

The Firepower's exterior features Hydro Silver Pearl paint with dark carbon fibre and polished aluminum accents. Tires are 275/35R-19 inch in the front and 335/30R-20 inch in the back mounted on massive billet aluminum wheels measuring 19x12 inches in the front and 20x12 inches in the rear.

The interior colour combination consists of Ocean Deep Blue as a primary hue, with Oyster leather and Behr Maple accents. Finely trimmed leather-covered sport seats, automatic climate control and a premium audio system are all standard. All touch surfaces – steering wheel, control *****, and shifter – are finished with fine materials for a luxury feel. The instrument panel was designed to display vital information through precisely-detailed gauges, completing the look and feel of elegance. "The Chrysler Firepower concept embodies the Chrysler brand philosophy," said Creed. "It provides luxury, refinement and sophistication blended elegantly with passion and performance."

Chrysler Firepower concept specifications:

I read at autoweek.com that they are supposed to be doing a name change on it.

I think it looks better than the viper IMHO, but wish it had the v10

Ahh, dont worry, its just a concept, by the time it hits dealers it will have grey 16" wheels and a V6, so I wouldnt get my panties in a wad of it not having the v10.

Looks more horrid than the Crossfire. Looks like they devoted all the time to the front and rear end, yet forgot to tell the engineers to make it aerodynamic. From the first pic, it reminds me of Ace and Gary's car from the Ambiguously Gay Duo from SNL

What do you think?

What do you think?
That if you see a Viper based concept car and instantly start thinking about *****'s, you might be homosexual.

Kidding.

I like it! And that interior is

The center console looks like a copy of a Audi TT with the 2 bars, one on each side.

Default Firepower?

ok. now i'm starting to worry. why take a good car like the viper and then firepower?

as i read the size of the tires and dimensions of the car it reminds me of when i put on my dad's shoes when i was 8 years old.

at a glance, the interior looks good, then i think of the interiors of the 50's. this car look like a 50's futuristic vision. shouldn't we be going forward instead of backwards? need i mention the pt cruiser?

a 3380 lbs car at 4.5 sec with a hemi, hmm. maybe the tires are too heavy..he..he..he

i'm 5'4", those doors look like the size of a bathroom stall, a small one. good luck getting some fat *** exec in it.

i can go on but this is getting long...
