My LS1 383 FI blows out about a quart every 1,500 miles, so I never have to complete an oil change. JFWY, my tech changes it every 5,000 miles or sooner.

Yep seen this before. Bought my jeep grand cherokee from a buddy who hadno clue what oil was... Actually he blew 3 engines because he never had the oil changed...I got a hell of a deal and built the 4.0L to a 4.6L stroker. Fun little project.

But yea after i saw the mess inside the engine I changed the oil on my 300M, my GF's car and my air compressor

I don't get it. How inept do you have to be? I've met some of the WORST non-mechanically inclined people in the past... men and women both... and even if they don't give a rats *** about cars in general, even if they just treat it as a hunk of metal to get them from point A to point B, they ALL knew that the things have fluids that have to be periodically changed. Yeesh... just when you thought you'd pretty much seen it all...

I know 2 guys with BMWs that go along time inbetween oil changes..

It has some system in the new 545 that calcutates oil life and when to get it changed..
Last time he went 10k on a oil change.

Very stupid if you ask me.

I tried to explain to my buddie the purpose of changing every 3-4k but it was like arguing with a 5yr old

A lot of new GM cars do that as well. Its pretty common practice now but its not like the 4th gen system. Last oil change in our 09 Malibu was almost 10k miles as well. Oil can go a lot longer than the old 3-4k mile myth these days.

Ya maybe on a car like a toyota camery a malibu, my one buddie has a 545 that he drives hard the other has a E46 M3.
Id think the motors are a bit more sensitve, plus they rev high.

They dont even dare to pop the hood and check the oil themselves cause the computer says they have 10k left.

Exactly. Still got to check the oil. I do it about every 1500 miles.
