Talking GForce 9" IRS in car vids

Happy New Year to all my fellow V owners! I have 3 in car videos for you that will let you see and hear how the 9" diff works as well as the 4.30 gears that I chose and the Monster stage 3 clutch set up. You will not hear the rear as its silent and the clutch has minimal chatter sooooo so far so good on all my new parts ! The 4th video was lost somehow and that was the one with the first gear pull so sorry for that but I do have a 2nd gear pull in one of the vids and you can also see how the gears are at 70-75 mph rpm wise. Not too exciting of vids but some of you guys had questions about these and wanted to hear if the diff made noise. I will have track vids from under the car with drag radials next month so that should be cool!!

Are you breaking traction on the video when you are accelerating?
The reason I ask, is because the tacometer reaches redline incredibly fast.
Lightweight flywheel & gears --- whew-heww

Is that because of the 4.30 gears?

yes 2nd gear was breaking just a tad but 3rd and 4th was not. Thats 4.30 gears on a cold day with a good heads/cam package and new lightweight flywheel . I am shooting for 12.0's N/A so we shall see!

Yooper had a good question on the other Cadi site. The tires are not puny ones as they are NItto INvos 285/30/20's and they are new to put the 4.30 gears in better prospective.

Basically guys, 4.30 gears are like putting a 75 shot of nitrous on your cars. Its the cheapest and safest go fast mod you can do IMO.

No rubbing or issues on those 285/30/20's? Forgive me if you've already discussed this.

I will be getting the car dynoed and retuned Wednesday so expect vids with new power numbers by the weekend!!

curious to see how the 9" and Monster clutch affect the numbers. Before was 440 rwhp fyi.

okay, here is the good, the bad and the ugly.... The dyno went well, very pleased. As you will see from the chart my original dyno was 438/406 with the 9" installed in went down to 420/384 and with the return since I had the lightweight MOnster flywheel we got it back up to 437/408 so I am very happy to be at the same power level with the loss of the larger 9" parts so you will lose some power with this beefy rearend but this is how you can make up for that. Now the BAD news is that I went from being at the top of 4th with my 3.73's at 132 down to 118 with my 4.30's so I may run out of gear at the 1320 but we shall see. 4.10's may be the optimal way to go if you want gears. I also recalibrated my speedo and 75 mph is 2300 rpm and 80 is 2500 rpm so it was off a tad in the video.

It rained on me the whole way over there so my clean car got filthy so the back is grey in the vid thanks to my big wheels and tires, lol. Track vids to come in a few weeks!

Dyno was done with cut outs open like last time.

dyno

warm up

speedo check

Alright - f it... I'm in.

I'm thinking 3.90's to match the maggie and cam and add a little wallop for the cash.

thanks and the cut outs are right after the diff and before the mufflers to prevent any drone when they are open.

Greddy-3.90's sounds great for your set up!

Don't talk to me a-hole... I'm still suffering from utter jealousy. My V has been garaged since September...

500hp in a car that can't move under it's own power is such a waste.

I had two considerations... 3rd gen replacement with the TCP housing - drive her for a few months more and sell her with 35K on the clock

or...

go this route and enjoy her for years to come.

Plan B has been decided upon by videos thus far.

I would still make a request for a few luanches to be posted up, but it seems I'll just go this route and make the video's myself.

Congrats on great numbers, sorry to hi-jack but what cut outs did you go with and do you like them. I have been looking to do QTP electrics and I was thinking to weld them in right after the Long Tubes. Any suggestions? Thanks

I used the box of tissue up for different reasons during the build. I'm ecstatic about finally being able to put some low end torque to the pavement.

If I can get a sub 2.0 60 foot time and not break something it's gonna be a fast *** 1/4.

CCustoms-QTP is what I have and I have had no problems for the 2 years they have been on. After headers is cool too; I just decided to go in the rear.

Greddy-lol, I hear you man and you should have some good times. I am expecting sub 1.75 60's, hopefully some 1.60's for some low 12 et's N/A.

VMapper-welcome and there will be more to come with the track vids and then that should be it.

I prefer the location you have. It sounds great.

Do you have any pics of the cutouts installed? Any ground clearance issues?
