I just got my kooks 1-3/4 headers in and catted connectors but ordered catless connectors so I'm selling the catted ones. U plan to run FI on your V? I hear going 1-7/8 is only beneficial if you run a supercharger or turbo setup. Otherwise, 1-3/4 are said to make more power N/A.
I called the shop to see about swapping them for 1-7/8 and they said they would do it but that it would actually be a disadvantage if I wasn't planning to run a blower or turbo so I decided against the header swap.

Same plans I have. After reading what some of the people had said on here, I too was gonna go 1-7/8 but when I asked the shop, they said 1-3/4 was more than enough for the intake, heads, big cam, full exhaust and nitrous plans I have. I don't plan to get any crazier than that with it. No point trying to make my V1 an all out race car when I can buy a C6 Z06 and do it much easier. I just wanna make the V a stout little daily driver and here in the near future when it's paid off, I wanna buy myself the vette for a weekend toy.

We're lucky we have plenty of torque (for such a small engine, relatively speaking) to sacrifice some low and mid range on 1 7/8" primaries. It would be a tough decision for me if I were to get 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" if the day ever comes...Mainly 'cause I don't think I'd ever get an 'upgraded' cam and esp one that fully took advantage of the higher rpms' powerband. At the same time though, don't think I'd be missing anything by going a little larger and if I were to plunk down that kind of $, sure would want the cushion for possible future upgrades.
I have 1 3/4" equal length on my 'velle (sbc 383, big cam, heads, etc.) and it's funny how the LS engines can use the larger size, as 1 7/8" would be way too big on an older sbc. I'm also running dual 3" exhaust too and both of those people (internet guys) say both are far too big...A stocker or close to, I'd agree, but when you start matching components and changing the powerband dynamics/increasing airflow, etc., then it becomes more important.
I wouldn't worry about having the larger primaries and lucky you :p If I were to get that size, I'd sure love the kooks and what I'd get; but for 1 3/4", I'll probably just get the pacesetters and have them coated in/out...

^^^nice gains...I don't think it has more to do with *peak* power than tractability and usable torque where you stay in most. For instance (and I'm just using arbitrary figures), say you gained more torque at 1800-2400 rpm, you can increase your mileage on the highway and it would just feel stronger low down. Not saying you are losing power with the 1 7/8", but just depends on what you're looking to do. I'd venture to guess (on a close to stock engine) you could get close to the same peak increases (1 3/4 or 1 7/8), but you are probably shifting the powerband up (as far as across the board increases) and that may or may not work for somebody depending on how they drive.
As I mentioned though, we have plenty of torque all over the rpm range to sacrifice a little down low if we're talking about overall power and not missing it.

I did go with a 1 3/4 set of kook son my ls1 mustang that has an even bigger cam then in the V so i really dont see a downside to either.

Yeah. Maryladn speed hooked up the coating as well.
Half tempted to wrap em as well...
And though I would love forced induction most I see myself affording is nitrous.... Sooner than later I think...
