Just got mine a few months ago from Luke at Lindsay Cadillac, shipped to my door for about 1700. GM Parts direct is a little bit more after they add in the their shipping cost.

The install wasn't to bad. If you're going to do new rear, axles are a must.

Parts from your local dealer are a ripoff. You can order them from any number of "enlightened" dealers that sell online at a fair price, usually 30-50% under what a local dealer parts person will gouge you for.

who in their right mind buying anything from the dealership! As well as it would be for the Gen IV not Gen III.

Lets see here... one minute of searching probably less time you spent talking to some jackass at the dealership: How about! $1,373.00 for the gen IV diff.
Good prices are to be had out there... just need to spend a little time.

Not that you can't get a cheap one on ebay, but that one looked to have a lot of corrosion on the outside of the case... i have a feeling it has seen it's fair share of use... Especially with unknown mileage

You forgot to mention the $329.52 shipping charge. So....how about $1702.52 for the gen IV diff.

The shipping is always outrageous from GM parts direct. My shipping cost to from Luke in Virginia was $87.00 to CA.

I agree, which is why I mentioned it. Sure, they advertise low prices, but make up for it on the shipping.

How is it 'make up for it' its still LESS than the 2K mentioned earlier. I suppose I should have added the shipping for you guys... I should have mentioned "plus shipping" of course plus shipping. All depends where you live on the amount.
I am aware of shipping, knowing its less regardless, was just making a point that the certain dealership is not the place to go. As aurora40 mentioned as well....
that was all..
Luke is good to all of us in that regard.

So take it apart and clean it.
I look at it as I am getting paid 700+ bucks (because that is what you are saving) to fix it up if that is the case.
I would be more inclined to agree with you, but have yet to see any failure regardless of mileage on any Gen IV diff.

Really? Do you honestly not understand, or are you just trying to argue?

Of course it's "plus shipping", but $329?! They are making up for their low "listed" price of $1373.00 that you were raving about by tacking on about $250 on top of what it really costs to ship. Reminds me of some eBay sellers who list a part for $1 & charge $150 for shipping.

I'm not saying it isn't a good price, just bringing attention to their "mark-up" they're trying to hide in the shipping.

tru that. It's all about grabbing you with that super "low" price; but everyone forgets about shipping until they checkout. Then go ****, whatever ive gone this far might as well pay for it

I understand what you are stating.
Profit (or markup) is burned into the overinflated shipping costs. Thanks for pointing that out. (it mentions this in their FAQ - https://secure.gmpartsdirect.com/sec...r.cfm?faqid=21)

I have a brand new one in the box in my garage. # on it is 25873498.

I'd sell it for 1650.00 shipped.
