Default Stock rim wide tire

What is the widest tire you can place on a stock rim and it not rub?

I have a 2005 ctsv at stock height.

This is clearly the first time we've discussed this subject. It's impossible for it to show itself in any searches due to it's exclusivity.

Is that the limit of the rim or the trailing arm?

What's the widest for rotating purpose? 255 or 265? And does it matter 40 or 45 tall?

If a 285 will fit seems to be opinion both ways on that topic depending on wheels, spacers, trailing arms, fender rolling, then you probably want the 285/35/18. Pair that with 255/40/18 fronts for a nice setup. I am considering this for a set of team dynamic wheels next time they need tires. The 40 series 285 would be a really tall tire, your speedometer would indicate low and it probably indicates low already so even lower or further away from actual speed.

I've had 275/40/18's and I've had 285/40/18's both work both fit. Depending on the car neither get fricking traction fml

Will 285/35/18 fit on stock rims stock height with rear fenders rolled? I'm worried about the trailing arm. I have 255/40/18 up front. Thanks. P.S. I've been searching but can't find a good answer on my combo. Thanks

Do you guys off ramp your cars? My '05 has stock size 245/45 Hankooks with 275/40 Hankooks in the rear. I've had rubs on both the front and rear on the passenger side. It hasn't torn up the tires, but it has unrolled about 2" of lip front and rear at 2:00 looking from the passenger side. I don't see how I could go much bigger without rubbing even worse.

You can get a 285/35/18 in there. That's what i run (Nitto555) 275/40/18 in front.

SStriker, I saw your thread with the 285/35/18 in the back and that's what made me want those big rollers. Can you have passengers and no rubbing? No trailing arm problems? And nitto 555's? Are your fenders rolled stock height? Thanks

I put these same tires on mine last week after seeing your pictures. Mine is stock height, no rubbing with passengers in the rear at all! No rolled fenders and stock trailing arms.

I have Zero issues (no rubbing) on Stock Springs, stock trailing arm. The fenders are rolled but i don't see an issue if they are not.

edit - JD03Cobra just confirmed my statement. lol
