Default Cam Questions

i dont really understand the cam specs.. so is there any where to get a cam package thats good and not junk. i read all these weird names of cams that people have but is confusing. Or can any one lead me in the right direction on a heads cam set up? I want it to be a medium cam not a stealth. Its a daily driver and i dont mind a little rockin my boat lol i want it to sound beast but not crazy so not a huge cam.. any help will be great

My advice is to spend some time to learn the basics of what the cam specs mean. That way you at least know the characteristics of what someone else tells you to put in your car.

Do you even have headers or a converter yet?

Middle of the road would be in the 230 duration area.

I daily drove a 236/242 .615/.615 on 111 in my V for a year and a half (about 20k miles) and loved it. I would not recommend it unless you can tune it yourself. It takes a lot of work to get a big cam to drive well in stop and go traffic, weather changes, etc.

Mines definetly daily driver friendly. Besides parkign lots trying to idle through without using the gas it drives like stock. I can throw it in 6th gear a 30 and under and have no problems. I made 400 on motor through a stock throttle body and ls6 intake.

EPS is a company whose been putting out good cams. Thats who speced the cam for my mustang that made 417 through an ls1 with stocks 241s. That was with 28" tall slicks and 4.10s as well.

You are asking some very basic questions. I highly advisethat you slow down, research, and learn some things before someone takes advantage of you and you end up spending a lot of $ for something you aren't happy with or corners get cut costing you an engine.

You're going to find that most people will tell you to run or use what they have.

I agree with the other guys. You need to learn a little before you just jump head first intothedeep end. But in my opinion for a head cam car I would run some tfs 215 heads and a cam similar to the be keyed above in this thread.

Here would be my recipe for an n/a LS6

Fast 90/92/102
Advanced induction full port work on the 243s
Pat G speced cam on LSL lobes.
1 7/8 long tubes.
42lb injectors or SVo 30s(rated at 36 on LS1 fuel pressure)

Or you could save that 4k in parts and get a maggie and make the same power with more torque.

where can you get a maggie for 4 grand? and what is better (motor safety wise) and what is eaiser? no matter what i still wanna do a cam to top it off and give it that sound and power. i guess ill just have to call a tune shop.. where in MD do you live its slow close to salisbury or cecil co or ocean city id really like some personal experince like hear sound and all.. if you could hook me up with a ride that would be perfect so i could judge more or less (cam size)

I run a Maggie and can with smaller pulley and long tubes and make 530/510. You can find Maggie's all day online on the forums between 3-4k. Just throw a cam and long tunes at it and get it tuned and your looking at 500+ Generally speaking that is
