Got the V2 retuned today
I just got back from XP Racing up in OKC a bit ago from a retune on the car. It's the same place that helped me build my black T/A a few years ago and I've become really good friends with the owner. It had a tune on it before I bought it that made 460whp, but it hesitated just a bit at tip in so I wanted to get it fixed, I've never been impressed with the shop the previous owner had it done, but hey, wasn't my car then. Nothing has changed mod wise since I got it, just a cold air intake. First pull on the dyno it had 11* of knock so he pretty much started over with the tune.
After it was all said and done, car ended up with 501rwhp and 487rwtq. Brought peak timing down from 24* to 19* and got rid of all the detonation. It probably could have taken more timing, but with it getting warmer in the summer Brett didn't want to risk it. I honestly expected 480rwhp, so I'm really happy with the results. Car feels a lot different, no hesitation anywhere at part throttle etc. Overall, best few hundred bucks I've spent on a car in a while!
After looking at the old tune, vs. a stock one, it seems like that tuner just added timing to the map and that's it. I'm glad I got it looked at, I'm sure it was detonating just beating on it on the street, lol. I'm not one to clout a shop, but I'd highly recommend Brett and XP for pretty much any LSX stuff around here.
