Default windshield wipers wont turn off

I recently replaced the battery in my car and ever since the windshield wipers have gone mad. I usually only push the lever down once get the one swipe and keep going. It started to were you hit it once they go like three times and then come on, on there own. Yesterday afternoon on my way home i hit and they never turned off. Got home shut the car off. Came out this morning started the car and they automatically started going. I pulled the fuse and went on to work. The fuse looks good. Any ideas? The car has always acted funny after disconnecting the battery such as the automatic window to roll the windows up wont work for a bit. Appreciate the help fellas.

Not really sure what could cause that but the first thing i would do is disconnect the battery for a bit and then reconnect it again and see if it clears the issue. I remember my old V had an issue similar to that but it wasnt the wipers. I changed the battery and something wasn't working right. It was a long time ago so i cant remember exactly what the issue was (maybe my key fob or something) but i remember i disconnected the new battery and reconnected it again and the problem went away. These cars are kinda quirky like that.

Could maybe be that the switch connected to the stalk has gone bad? If the fuse is good, it may be that the switch has broken where the circuit is closed all the time now.

Is there a relay in line to the wipers that may have gone bad, also? Might want to find a wiring diagram and see if there's one.

More often than not it is the control module that is going bad. The control module is mounted on the motor so it is exposed to the elements.

My wipers would not turn off at all. I replaced my motor with a re-manufactured unit from Rock auto. Part # 401064.

Here is a thread and write up of how to install it from over at the caddy place.

possible causes.. switch, relay, control module...or a dead short somewhere in the wiring.

ok, so you don't have a short after the switch, and this means (to me, at least), that you have a bad switch.
