Default Roll Bar (PICS)

Finished the install of my roll bar. Work done by Mike Ruth of famous Alston Racing fame. Bar is 1.75 .120 wall DOM. I really liked Junior1s cage and I copied the roll bar portion of it. Excuse the car being filthy from the shop. I still have some cosmetic stuff to do covering the back seat delete.

Nice! I can't wait to get mine. Also looking forward to seeing what you do cosmetically. I haven't had a back seat in my car for a long time now.

Are you going to gut the rear doors at all? Might as well...

Oh yeah, and figure out how to remove the rear air bags, etc.

dam that looks good, how much weight savings do you estimate with the front seats and rear seat delete.

why not just buy an f-body if you want a 2 seater? there was no real need to just ruin your car, could've sold it and bought an f-body or something. dear lord.

well, regardless of how bad *** it looks, it's retarded. if you want an impractical 2 seater, you don't buy a 4 door cadillac with heated leather seats.

You can loose about 90 lbs total on the front seats. The rear seat is about 75-80 with the plastic trunk tub. The rollbar puts back about 55.

The air bags I haven't figured out yet. It's obvious that my car is just a streetable track car. It's not a daily driver
but I may want to keep some of it's street character (heater, AC etc.)

Are you able to notice any difference in the "stiffness" of the car?

I've driven FBodies pre and post Roll Bar install and the difference is night and day.

Got any video of your car on the track BTW?... Sick ride... Can't wait to own one myself.

ETA: I think it's awesome you've put the bar in... If I had the extra cash laying around to have a "track day" V... I'd be all over it!

That's the same way I look at mine. I did just drive 1500 miles across the country with it though (cheaper than the SRT8).

Thanks. Look, we all love the V1. When my car was new and cost $57,000 I would never dream of welding a rollbar in it. 7 years later and 25 track days have gone by. It's now a $17-19,000 car and I'm not worried anymore about the possibility of it not returning from the next track day. I'm beginning to push it harder and safety has been on my mind lately. A rollbar and harnesses had to be next. I still like to drive the car on the street as well.

I haven't noticed anything as far as stiffness yet but I have a couple of track days coming up. F bodies are a little limp in some spots and I agree with your observations on a roll bar.

I've got some track videos from Road America last year but I need to figure out how to post them someday.

My car actually has the same mods as yours, except a way bigger cam (assuming you have the GM hot cam in the stage 2), and probably better heads, so I guess its time for a roll cage. I actually might just get rid of all my seats, air bags, cut the roof off of the car, trunk lid, front bumper, and both back doors.

Go tell Pratt and Miller that putting a role cage in Cadillac is "ruining" it ya tool.

Big Bu Bu cage looks sick! These cars were made for the track, not bragging about the list of mods in your signature.
