There's a guy selling a set of used ebony front seats for $250. That's the lowest price I've ever seen by at least $250.

What do you mean by covers? Is that the entire leather/suede section, and if so, do you know the part number?

Edit: nevermind, got it. I was hoping that you could buy the padding and leather itself without needing the heater and supporting material within, but GM doesn't build them that way.

#5 (driver seat back cover) costs ~$143, and #15 (driver seat w/heater) costs ~$139. Part numbers and price vary depending on the color you want (cashmere is almost twice as expensive for some reason) and whether you need the driver's side or passenger's side pieces.

the covers are the actual black/suede parts that wrap around the support foam.

Come to think of it, there are a couple of related tweaks that I've been wanting to make to the seats, and wondered if you guys had any thoughts:

1. Increase the strength of the seatbelt return spring. I have CG locks on the front seats, which doubles or triples the weight of the seatbelt. The spring simply wasn't designed for that and I wonder if there's a place that sells beefier springs.

2. Stuff a whole lot of padding into the seat bolsters to stiffen them up to provide better support when cornering. This winter, I might buy a set of replacement seat parts and bring them to a local upholstery shop to see what they can do.

Have you disassembled them, by chance? There are separate part numbers that either include or do not include the seat heaters. If all we want to do is replace the cracked leather outer shell, it'd be nice to know whether you can transplant your seat heaters into a new piece instead of re-buying the heaters over and over.

Not in this car, no, but I have in my Aurora. The seat heaters are embedded coils that travel through the panels and have a harness that goes through a hole in the support foam.

That being said, no you cannot, if this car is like my aurora (which I'm assuming it is)

So that rules out jamming additional material in the bolsters?

If you could have someone sew different panels into the covers, then no.

Nice find on the seats for sale!!! Cheaper than buying the individual parts from GM. I am local to him. Gonna see if I can pick them up.

FuzzyLog1c, the seat bottom and top covers are sold separately. The heaters are part of the cover. The foam is also sold separately.

Yes, you can put additional material on top of the foam. It is pretty tough to do but def. doable.
