Default H\C\I and now Headers Dyno

Strapped the car down today at Boost for Boobies. First pull since installing the headers, previously made 375/352 with the H\C\I setup. It made 414/376 today, I also didn't realize the printout was STD, previous dyno's were always SAE. That put's my real numbers at 398 and change. Not exactly where I wanted to be, I'll probably get it retuned for the headers and see if I'm closer to where I expected.

UPDATE: Strapped it down again after tuning it, 414/380 up from 398/372.

Fixed. I would ask for a retune.

Not sure if you posted it somewhere else, but what h/c/I setup do you have? It's not in your sig.

406 after with headers. Seems in the ballpark of possibilities depending on the specifics.

Sounds like a recipe for 450 to me.

I'm not sure of the specs on that cam but I would say you should be in the 400-450 ballpark with that. Some people say that a 102 and large diameter primaries slow down the intake and exhaust velocities but I haven't really bought into that. I feel that it's mostly in the tune and how aggressive you want to run it.

I would get it retuned also. Def don't take offense but I would have thought with those mods you would have pulled harder on me being I'm stock except for muffler delete. Also, if I saw correctly, your still running the stock cat back. How much hp is being left on the table vs a full exhaust?

So u have a ls2 with ls3 top end? Lsa actually flows a bit less due to wings than the ls3 heads unless you cut the wings out. Lsa and ls3 are virtually identical other than that. Fast102 on a ls3 is pretty much no gain over a ls3 intake. But I really think you should be showing a bigger number than that with that cam. If the heads are stock...430-450, yeah, possible. Pending tuning.

That cam is mild in the realm of ls3.

Cam specs are 224 / 236 @ .050, .581 / .601 lift, 113 LSA (taken from their site).

In all honesty, catbacks really aren't the restrictions in the stock exhaust. The catalysts are the major restrictions.

Ya, I wasn't really sure. I figured maybe those big *** mufflers were pretty restrictive with h/c/i. Maybe more important with bigger ci or fi. At the very least it saved 20-30 lbs.

I heard the OEM exhaust is about the same weight as the aftermarket systems, or at least the Corsa. I have magnaflow and I know they have pretty light mufflers...

I suppose it's a matter of perspective? Aside from the second pull where I believe you dropped an extra gear than I did, I would say I pulled on you pretty hard. That said I also walked in there expecting to make 430, obviously I didn't so it's accurate to say I didn't pull on you like a 430whp car would have if that's where you're coming from.

Hard to say without having it dyno'ed, but I suspect not much. The majority of the power in the exhaust is made up with the headers. There's probably something left on the table with the factory mufflers but dollar for dollar it makes sense to me to buy other things first. Someday I would like to get a Corsa kit.

Yeah basically an LS2 with an LS3(LSA) top end, 430's what I went in there expecting. I don't think I'll see 450 but I could be wrong, from what I've seen most people making that kind of power are using aftermarket castings or larger cams.

I guess...I made 414 STD on a Dynojet with just ported LS2 manifold and Torquer v2. There's no way that setup is maxed out.
