Exclamation Install 1.8 rockers or sell to get 1.85 rockers?

Hey CTSV fam,

My friend handed me a set of what I thought were 1.85 SLP rockers but came to find out they are just 1.8 rockers (harland)

They were new and FREE so I am not complaining at all but wondering if I should just sell these to get the 1.85 SLP rockers.

I don't "plan" on doing any cam upgrades so this will be a great way for me to get some budget HP to the wheels.

I do plan on installing lunati dual valve springs, new rods, etc.

Let me know your thoughts!

You won't see hardly any difference between them so I'd just use them. But if you do decide to sell them lmk a price. But as you said they were free so don't try to kill me

I'm a fan of keeping the stock rockers until you absolutely have to change them. I would not risk reliability issues for the sake of a few hp you will NEVER feel.

I've actually done this similar mod to my 94 LT1 & had a significant gain that you could actually feel.

Plans to install the 1.8 rockers along with new springs, and rods are set to take place in the 1st week of June.

I will let you all know how it goes!

I am excited.

I went from hr 1.7 rockers to hr 1.8 rockers and picked up 4hp/tq at peak. But I picked up 10~ of both under the curve. Roller rockers also free it up at higher rpm and the engine will run smoother at 6500+rpm from my experience.

here's the graph

I thought running dual valve springs on stock cam wasn't ideal?

I wouldn't. There are plenty of beehive options for springs these days.

I have done 1.7, 1.8 and 1.85. The 1.8 and 1.85 were great on stock cams, but when you changed the cam u are very limited. I would put the 1.8 in with ls9 cam. You will love the smoothness and added power. I did ls7 cam w/ 1.85 rockers on a 6.6ltr and made 520/520 at the flywheel.wanted the gt11 cam but that was 1000$ upgrade

After doing some further research I definitely shouldn't install the dual valve springs with the stock cam so I am just going to find a good set of beehive springs.

Thank goodness you guys gave me the heads up on that!
