Default Quick header question

I tried searching, but i may not have been using the correct words...

my father is looking for a set of long tube headers that mate up to the stock exhaust system. why? i really don't know, but hey, that's what he wants. Car is completely stock. Just wants headers and HF cats. Does Kooks make a set that use the factory exhaust?

Please don't chime in with the OBX, my dad saw those and didn't like them for some reason. Any help would be appreciated.

OBX are a direct copy of kooks so.....same thing. No headers will just bolt up to the factory exhaust and will require at least some modification, all be it minimal.

Correct. Any longtube for this car will require ditching the stock cat converters. IIRC Pacesetters may bolt up to factory exhaust, but I would search a bit more on that. They aren't available in Stainless though.

I have OBX headers and will vouch for their quality. It was very impressed when I got them. I have them mated to the stock pipes, but it required about a foot of pipe trimmed off the front to mate the catted mid-pipes. They've been clamped and aren't the best fit, but I've neglected to take them to an exhaust shop for welding.

so instead of ditching the factory cats, you cut them down and fit them further back in the exhaust system, the hooked the headers up to that...right??

i think he meant that he had to trim the new catted mid-pipes so that they fit?

For Kooks or OBX the mid pipes are required for install unless you have a custom exhaust setup. The catted mid pipes that bolt up to the header fittings have slip fittings that mate up to the stock or aftermarket 2.5" pipes.

Looks good though!

thanks for the replys guys! i saw on kooks website late last night that they have a catted mid pipe that slips onto the stock resonator (you'll have to trim the stock resonator pipes to fit).
