Default Diff *Clunk* worse after Revshift mount/trans insert install!

Hey all,

Just installed the revshift blue motor mounts and transmission insert over the weekend. Drivers side factory mount was toast, and the passenger looked to be on its last leg. Car feels like a whole different beast with the new mounts/tranny insert. Very happy with the results.

Only problem I noticed is now any time I engage/disengage the clutch, at ANY speed, I'm getting the infamous clunk that you would normally experience during parade style driving.

Has anyone else experienced this after aftermarket mount installation? Should I be concerned? Car is an '04 with only 25,000 miles. No whining or howling coming from the diff. Just that annoying *clunk*!

Upgrading to the 8.8 eventually, but it probably wouldn't be until next spring.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just the nature of the beast. 76k on my '07 with all CS mounts and my **** clunks a ton. It's just the shitty factory backlash in the diff.

its just that, a clunk; mine made it worse too.. Replace it with the CS or revshift diff bushing if you want it to go away. I personally bought the CS 95a.

Your motor used to rock a bit, easing the shock against the diff mount. Now your motor and transmission is much more solid delivering more (almost all really) of the shock directly to the diff mount.

Thanks for the replies. I'm just paranoid about the diff, especially since my V is an '04, I assume it's a Gen 1 differential. I'm going to do the CS Subframe bushings sooner than later. I may as well pony up and do the diff block and bushing at the same time.

there are alot of folks running some decent power levels through the stock diff. and CV's. setup right with a few bushing and NO CLUTCH DUMPs it should be just fine.

I for one am still paranoid as well but I am just as paranoid about anything breaking at all that could be a pricey fix, diff, tranny or engine. Even though tranny/engine are less likely, things do happen at all different mileage on any car...

*knock on wood*

Wheel hop is definitely one of the main contributions to diff failure in my opnion. May not hop when it breaks but just think of how wheel hop treats the ring and pinion and case when you are smashing the gas trying to tell it to GO! its being forced against its will Eventually it will be to much, haha

If you are going to do the rear bushings I would recommend the 80a cradle a new OEM diff bushing and the diff block from CS. I you make all of that stuff hard you may get road noise, rear end whine, driveshaft/flywheel clunks etc. Or do the other extreme and go to a 1 piece driveshaft and no dual mass flywheel.

No matter what Band-Aids are done I still think the diff is sloppy so clunk will never fully be eliminated

Karl-
Band-Aids dude, they are all just band-aids. I ordered cradle bushings yesterday. They are all worthwhile but the diff bushing I got is just a band-aid as well. I know it won't help the clunk, I just hope I helps it survive until I can drop the coin on a Ford 8.8 swap.

I had a clunking problem. It was my drive shaft going out.

My car came with pinion brace. Had 42k on it and the factory diff bushing looked new. I went with cs bushing and block. Less noise but still had clunk. Now have rs trans insert and mm. Also did ls7 clutch. Clunk is mostly gone but can still happen under certain conditions.

My car has a BMR pinion brace and I've wheelhopped my car hard on several occasions, including several passes down a drag strip and my stock 05 diff hasn't had a hiccup.
