Default New 1st gen owner questions

Hi, while trying to fix an inside trim panel i found a thick cable that was cut. Anybody know what it is for?

Also in trunk on passenger side there is a square indentation with 4 holes, no clue on what it is for.
Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

The cable looks like a ground. Where is it? What panel is it behind?

I wouldn't worry about the trunk thing. It's probably where something goes in the base cts.

There is nothing mounted to that indention. Maybe the origin owner had an amp or something there. Get a better pic of that wire. May be the antenna wire or power to the lights in the headliner.

Looks like a cable people use when they put a sound system in there car. The holes in the trunk is probably where they bolted the speaker box in.

Trace the cord back and if it leads to the battery then disconnect it.

Seems odd that an aftermarket wire would be routed through an empty OEM wire tie attachment. I would be worried that it was an original wire and now disconnected.

My passenger side trunk panel has the indent and four holes you're describing. That's from the factory, nothing installed there, nothing missing either.

The indents in the passenger side trunk panel is for a small cargo net that the dealer can sell you. I have one in my V.

The previous owner installed an amp in trunk but as far as i can tell it's still functioning. Maybe an old ground that he changed? To my knowledge everything on the car works as it should. Thanks for all your responses.

Have your dealer look up accessories for a regular CTS. The cargo net has "barbs" that prevent it from coming out of the holes.

A part number would make it easier to order. But just tell your dealer that you want the cargo net for the passenger side trunk interior trim. They should know how to find it.
