Default V1 Headlight issue.

Every once in a while, my driver's side headlight (low beam) will go out for about 2 seconds, then come on for 2 seconds. It will repeat this about 3-4 times and finally just stay off. What am I looking at here? Bad bulb? Bad ballast? Loose connection? Bumps don't seem to affect it, so I am doubting it's a bad connection.

the ballast is bad.

go down a few threads. i just made one about replacing the ballasts with aftermarket units.

or you need to figure out if you have 4pin or 12pin ballasts. the part numbers are different (Valeo LAD5G (12pin) or LAD5GL (4pin)). the stock ones are about $125-150 when you look around online.

Wouldn't all 2005 CTS-Vs have the same type (# of pins) of ballast?

seems hit or miss based on what i've seen. my 05 has the 4 pin ballasts, so the valeo LAD5GL units.

I may just take a gamble and order the LAD5GL.

The boys at Cadillac are such ******* retards to go with 2 different models on a part that can't even be verified without taking half of the ******* front of the car off. Rant over.

as a heads up because i did it on my own car you can jam the 4pin connector into the 12pin ballast if you repin the connector so the wires are in the right spot, but it's impossible to do it the other way around.

That's just great....

Wonder if one ballast is any better than the other?
