HID Ballast questions

HID Ballast questions I did a search and didn't really find what I was looking for.
I believe my passenger side ballast is going bad in my 04V...due to it flickering and shutting on aand off while I drive it.
First off, i cant seem to find solid info on what years used the 4 pin or the 12 pin ballasts.
Also I see a lot of Srx and CTS hid ballasts on eBay... Will those work for my V?
Finally..I see some 2nd gen hid ballasts on ebay...can those be made to work?

I thought the ballast in my 04' was going bad, had the same flickering and turning on and off while driving. It ended up just being the bulb which was a lot cheaper than the ballast. Might be worth checking.

the ballasts are valeo LAD5GL (4 pin)/LAD5G (12pin).
you'll find a lot more searching those part numbers. the 12 pin i think is supposed to have auto leveling features, but our car doesn't use it. we simply power the ballast for the low beam and that's it.
