Default Two new electrical problems

So Today I noticed that my windshield spray isn't working. I have tested the motor and it works. The fuse is also in working order. I wasn't able to check and see if the motor is getting power because I don't have anyone to help me right now. Is there a way to check the switch?

My second problem is my horn quit working when I lock the car with the fob. The horn works when I press it on the steering wheel. It works when I use the panic button. The horn is enabled on the DIC to sound when the doors are locked. Any ideas why it isn't working right?

you can ohm out the switch, although I would think you have to disassemble it. Use rubber bands to hold in the spray switch and check power at the fuse (if there is one) or then at the motor. That is what I had to do on my camaro when it went bad.

As for your horn, make sure everything is actually shut. does you DIC show anything ajar or open? You might have to check every door and trunk to make sure you DIC is seeing that it is either open or shut, other wise I dont think you will get a honk notifying you that it is locked up

I am assuming there is a relay in there somewhere too(for the sprayer). I doubt full current would run through the switch. I could be wrong though.

My horn randomly did the same things - took the terminals off the horn contacts and put them back on tighter and it worked again.

Check to see if the hose came off under the hood.

I concur with both MN_V and demang - have had the same issues.

Thanks guys. I'll check all that out when I get some free time. I hope it's nothing I have to pay to fix. This damn car has nickel and dime'd me since I got it.

For the washer, I am not getting power to the pump. I have checked the fuses in the engine compartment that I believe go to the pump and they are both good. I have checked and did not find any other fuses for it in the car. Would anyone have a diagram of the wiring for this?

I figured out my horn. With my second key the horn sounds. So it must have gotten messed up when I had a new fob programmed. So that will be an easy fix. I hate to say it but my wife figured that one out for me.

You can program that in the radio for each driver preset

Thanks vroom_vroom. I completely over looked that I guess. I went back out and check both my settings and my driver 2 horn was off. So my key fobs are switched around. 1 is programmed for 2 and 2 is programmed for 1.

Don't feel bad. This Personalization protocol is such a pain the ***, I don't even use it.

I found my problem for the windshield washer. Bad pump. Turns out there are two pumps and I was checking the pump for the headlights. The pump for the windshield is on the passenger side of the washer fluid tank. I had to remove the wheel and fender lining to get to it. I checked all my fuses and they were good, but I replaced the one for headlight washer and now they started to work! This is the first time they have worked since I got the car. Weird that the fuses check out okay but replacing it made it work.

Now on to my new problem... DIC says "Service vehicle soon" when I start the car. There are no CEL coming on. When will it end??

I don't believe it is. It's on 85%. I unhooked the battery and left it off for about an hour hoping that would reset it, but it came back on right away.

A service vehicle soon message is USUALLY accompanied by other codes such as ABS, traction control, and the like. It's not a maintenance deal, for sure. You'll need (a mechanic with) access to a Tech 2 or one of the major tool makers (Mac, SnapOn, etc) diag computers.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be making another trip back to my mechanic.
