Default Chinese Android Double DIN Head Unit w/ Retained DIC

Took a video of my HU this morning.
It's actually pretty slick for the price I paid (< $200 on Black Friday)

Here's a list of all the wiring harnesses that I needed to get steering wheel controls to work. (See Post #33)
https://ls1tech.com/forums/cadillac-...l#post19581281

It will do screen mirroring on my phone as well.

Looks great! This has been on my to-do list forever.

Did you have to reprogram the new radio with the small DIC?

Are you able to still put the vehicle in "Competition" traction control mode?

I want to do the DIC so bad, but all those un-used buttons would drive me crazy

Yea I was thinking about that, but really dont have any skill for cosmetics, plus I would end up having to paint everything because of the difference in color and then thats where i would botch things up, or maybe just vinyl wrapping for once? But looking at it, I would remove the Band, F1-6, and Source buttons, leaving the two on the side of the DIC and then everything else on the sides that isnt needed. I think after that, it would clean up very nicely and have full functionality. If I can find someone who could fill and cover, I wouldnt mind being the guinea pig

Maybe a few hours? Wiring wasn't too bad with all the harnesses I posted.
You have to intercept one wire from the multi-color connector (Source for Steering wheel controls) and tie it with the return into Ground. Then you make a similar connector with the
Metra 70-1784 Radio Wiring Harness for Audi 88-99/Volkswagen 80-Up
and Metra 71-1784 Reverse Wiring Harness for Select 1980-2005 Volkswagen Vehicles OEM (basically making it a way to intercept pins off that harness)

The worst part was dremeling and cutting to get the Android HU to fit. That's all trial and error.

Yes this is a base radio from some 2004 CTS that's been gutted. You need a Tech2 to program your VIN into the radio.
Yes Competition Mode works.

If only Chinese key fobs from eBay worked as well as this.
I'm still waiting on the replacement parts to come in for my key.

Only the row of buttons are unused (Band/Source/Memory Presents)
You still need the volume to control the factory Bose amp
The tune **** and the two rocker buttons on the sides of the display are used to set personalization settings.

Okay, I am using the parrot and have been looking into using a steering wheel controller for the volume and tune dials, since I dont have steering wheel controls to begin with, that would at least give me those functions and then the only thing I would have to make disapear is the row of buttons above the screen, the Band, Presets and Source correct?

Did 2004 not have steering wheel radio controls?
Yes only the Band/Presets/Source buttons are inactive in my setup. Actually since I had to trim so much plastic from behind to make it fit, they actually can't be pressed.

Mine doesnt at least, I have found this int he past https://axxessinterfaces.com/product...CTS&TrimOption[]=w%2F%20BOSE
so the only thing I would have to do is implements the controls from the the old stack into it. I may actually do this now.

I'm not sure if you can run a base head unit and one of those SWC interfaces at the same time. They're both talking on the GM Serial bus with the same commands.

It wont be using the stock HU, I will be using Parrot Asteroid Smart which is currently equipped. It has its own input for steering wheel controls which I can adapt that interface for. the only thing I would have to figure out and hijack the wiring for the buttons and ***** that will go to the interface, which then will go to the HU. Do you have any pictures when you were modifying the stack? is it all IC or is there a connector for those as well?

The steering wheel connector signal comes out of the 20 pin connector. See the amazon wish list I posted for everything you need.
There's a guide on cadillac FAQ on how to gut the base head unit on how to cut and install a double DIN unit.

Yomikoo Auxiliary Audio MP3 Changer Adapter Cable Connector Fit for VV Audi 8Pin Mini ISO
$9.59
In Stock. Offered by Yomikoo.
Edit comment, quantity & priority
Use this to intercept anything on the C1 connector. It basically is an extension cord for the C1 connector. Steering wheel control supply voltage is on Pin 13.

I may not have it since my vehicle isnt equipped, what I am wondering, for the OE volume control, tune ***** and seek buttons if it all integrated circuit or does it come out to a pin header? that way I can hijack those signals. My guess it would be behind the bezel and lead up to OE HU as a ribbon cable or connector
