I read the regular cts rear is a 3.42 gear set.

The only difference in the two are the gears. The housing is the same.

I know the CTS is RWD, I'm just wondering if the parts were all the same except for the gears.

yes they are. i was just kidding about the fwd drive thing. my wife has a 03 cts and i have a 05 v and the only differance is the gear ratio
