Default New to forums, could use Tire Advice

Hello all,

I'm new to these forums and could use a hand picking out some replacement tires for my 05 V. It currently has Nitto 555's and I was thinking of replacing them with some GS-D3's but it turns out those have been discontinued.

I'm still in the process of getting a spare tire kit together because I dont want runflats anymore so I would like to know what you would recommend for some new tires for the V? I'm thinking I should go with something somewhat readily available should I need to get a replacement in a hurry.

Just fyi, I live in Florida(st pete) so I wont have problems with snow or ice, but the rainy season is fast approaching!

Thanks in advance!

Michelin PS2s are the very best and very pricey. Some go with Nitto Invos or Hankook V12 Ventus, which are a good compromise if you are on a budget. What are your goals---long treadwear, performance, a 50%/50% objective for both? Here are the best retailers:

I was running RE11s last year in Miami and loving them. If you can find yourself a beat up spare stock rim, that would be my recommendation for incase you get a flat.

Honestly though, I run with fix-a-flat, a small air pump and AAA on speed dial(and a really big knife incase the car dies in a scary part of town).

We have these on our '03 Lincoln LS. I like them, but they are wearing like crap! At factory recommended tire pressures, the outside edge is wearing much faster than the center of the tread on all 4 tires. Now I run the max pressure on the sidewall, and the wear is much more even. Still, for the $1000 they cost, I'm disappointed. Grip is good in all conditions. Since he's in FL, an all season tire is a waste, and really not in keeping with a V should have.

I have Hankook V12's on my V. They are a great tire especially for the price. They cost me about $650 for 4. I'm impressed with the grip on dry pavement and in the rain. So far I've pulled 1.11G's to the right and .94G's to the left with a staggered set of V12's. They may not be an all out tire, but I'm very happy with them on my daily driver. I'm pretty sure I'll get about 20,000 miles out of the rear which would be exceptional for me.

I could pull 1.11 g on snow tires if I wanted to. It's hard to use that for a true handling measure.

I ran these on my Cobra...they are badass and badass looking tires, just use caution because where I bought mine from warned me that there was no warranty b/c these were considered 100% performance tires and didn't have a practical street application! WTF? Idk if they were just shady or the manufac doesn't back these. For performance and handling they are great...I just got about 20k out of them.
