Question planning on changing the harmonic balancer-need some advice

currently thrown my accessory belt twice now after getting my ws6 dialed in with the TH400 when flooring past 6500RPMs. currently running the stock oem balancer. im planning on getting the summit racing sfi SUM-C2502, oem TTY crank bolt, and shorter accessory and ac belts. my question is, should i also get a crank seal and replace that as well or should i be alright not needing to get it replaced?

Since you have the pulley off no reason not to replace it unless it's fairly new.
I typically spring for the ARP balancer bolt in lieu of the TTY bolt.

Sounds like a good candidate for the Katech solid tensioner. I was throwing belts in the Chevelle around 7k with my Oem tensioner on my Corvette accessories. Switched to the Katech manual tensioner and it’s never thrown another belt since.

hmm interesting. The stock tensioner spring is stiff and I can barely fit the stock diameter belt on. Are you still using the stock harmonic balancer?

+1 for the Katech tensioner. I installed one on my LS1 after throwing the belt nearly every pass. Never had belt problems again, and I also had a strong spring factory style tensioner. You'd be amazed at how much those things flutter at high RPM. I ran a stock balancer as well.

When my old combo was together, 7400 was my limiter, shifting at 7100.

Hmm. I'll look into the katech in the near future. I already went and got majority of the parts for the damper so funds is limited. Thx for the input guys on the Katech tensioner

No sir. It’s a 434 with an underdriven ATI damper on the font.
