Sorry about the HiJack, but I just bought an '05 V w/ 1,380 miles.
I'm assuming it still has the stock differential, but are there any markings on it (and where are they?) that would tell me?
Thanks.

There are four different part numbers for a V1.
1st --- 10361308
2nd--- 10368780
3rd--- 15793756 installed in '06 & '07.
4th--- 25873498 was released in 2008 for a slight improvement over 15793756 which was installed in the '06 &'07.
Most '04 & '05 have the 2nd part number. Both the 1st and the 2nd are considered inferior to the 3rd and especially the 4th.

Even though I have no intentions of racing, burnouts, or generally beating on the car (well, maybe the occasional burnout), am I still on borrowed time with #1 or #2?
Are the diffs really that weak, or is it the wheelhop that eventually destroys them?
Vipers suffer from serious wheelhop and I've seen it destroy halfshafts/diffs/transmissions/motor mounts on those cars, so I avoid it on my Viper(Aftermarket Polyurethane engine mounts seem to have reduced much of the wheelhop) and have yet to break any driveline parts. I'm hoping to have the same experience with this car.
Could somebody please tell me where to go find parts for this car that will reduce/eliminate hop? (link for those Creative Steel mounts?) Thanks.

Good Info - Thanks! I fear I most likely have either #1 or #2.

I broke mine on a 1st to 2nd shift and had no wheelhop.
A good set of axles will eliminate hop and help protect the diff . But no guarantees .

Thanks for the help guys and for posting this stone! Ill get a pic of the top of the diff when i get a chance. I thought the numbers on the tag would tell which one it was...

I replaced my Gen 1 diff with another gen 1.
It poped around christamss time and I was just strapped for cash. Couldnt dish out the 1,600. But I do plan on upgrading one day.

Yeah... Im considering now if it would be smart of me to keep it in the box in the garage where it has been for the past few months incase i break my stock 04 diff that is currently in my car. I wont have the $1600 to upgrade anytime soon with being a student and having my bills to pay. I don't rag on my car for that very reason. lol Mostly just cruise it around to avoid costing myself money.
The extra $500 would be nice though. Maybe ill throw it on craigs and see what luck i have...
The diff came with the car when i bought it. Previous owner bought it knowing the car still had the stock rear in it incase it ever broke but it never did. Still going strong...
