Default $30 Camera mount

Order one of these Cell Buckle that mounts to the steering wheel so you can watch your phone and drive.
I used mine to mount a Sony Bloggie camera.

Is that adjustable to fit any camera?

Obvisouly not a huge camera, but does the syn-ching mechanism move at all? Or do you have to have a perfect camera size for the bracket

Wouldn't it be wiser to clip it to the gauge overhang lip? Hope you don't have to turn the wheel.

Got this from Cell Buckle website.
"The Cell Buckle opens to 2.9" inches and holds 0.8" inches wide"

Here some more picture of the Cell Buckle

Wonder if you couldn't make that c part, before the round clip part, fit on the gauge dash part, that might be better. Maybe even figure out a way to mount it down via a screw (granted, more permanent)?

I use a Mountek 5000 to hold my cell phone. Works pretty good. I don't think any configuration thought would make it possible to be above the dash. Flipping it over from my configuratoin would put it higher, but I'm not if it would be high enough. I'm sure it'd hold a camera. I'll have to try that.
