Default 54inch shifter installed

The original shifter thread is MIA so.....

I followed the directions supplied in several threads and found them very helpful but why you wouldn't bother to take the console out is beyond me....6 bolts, 1 connector....5 minute job....too easy.

The entire install took right at an hour....

The results are staggering!

To help with the predictable transmission noise, I looked no further than my desk for a wad of rubber bands....

I've got the shortened shift boot to install but I have a little more work to do before putting the console back in.....will take better pics after its complete.

Probably because forums have been tightening down on vendor rules lately.

I don't like using big words so I try and keep it simple for you guys but these really aren't rubber bands, they're vibration dampening units and they work very well.

Rubber bands are an old trick but bottom line, it'll only cost $2 to try it for yourself and it's easily undone if you don't think it's working for you....more than anything its sealing the round shift boot to my rectangular shifter in prime fashion so I'm not getting any road noise through it and when it comes time to take the shifter out, razor blade them loose and it won't leave a mess like dynamat or something like that would.

Wonder how the shifter feels. Haven't got a chance to put mine in and might actually end up havin to sell it as I might not even have the V1 any more

Hey brother, I can send you one of our silicon sleeves we use to seal the lower boot and mitigate vibration.

Thanks for posting up 54.....you sent me one of those but the rubber bands were easier to work with and, in my opinion, they work.

After putting the stock foam isolator back in, the shifter makes absolutely no noise whatsoever with the rubber bands in place.....none, zero, nada

What I will need is the seal that goes on the bottom side of the shifter as mine was completely gone. Saw somewhere where a Doorman brand "help" section rubber grommet could be modified to work and I'll go in that direction when doing the clutch and rebuilding the shifter base.

thanks again!

My car would see me coming with that nissan part, and probably lock the doors and not let me in. She's bitchy like that.
