Default how did Mallett do it...

Has anyone ever seen the "Mallett minitubs" referred to in the classified below?

http://www.cadillacforums.com/cadill...aspirated.html

The guy who owns this was active on the other forum for about a month and we asked for pics but i guess he's been too busy to dick with it.

So how did they squeeze a 12" wheel under the V1? did they relocate subframe rails and mounting points because in the latest CS trailing arm thread it was suggested that after the trailing arm, the next point of contact is the frame and subframe mounting points...haven't tried it myself so I'll just have to take their word for it..

been looking for pics for a couple of years....anybody got anything???

It appears they also pushed the wheel out some, so there's at least a half inch of clearance gained.

There is another for sale near the Detroit area (Craigslist). I sent him an email asking if he would separate the wheels.

I like them, but not sure I can justify the price tag...

That would be a score but if they're the 12" wheels, they'll be useless without the minitubs....

we need pics!

Do all Mallett cars have 12s in the rear? Those don't look very big.

Right, so the CL one only has 19x9 rears. Also, all that money and they put K Sports on it.

You have a lot of other factors besides the tubs causin issues

I have coil over springs and had to seperate the spring from the shock to gain 3/4"more clearance. I pished my fenders out an inch so i may run 19x10.5 with a 305 tire.

Its costly and needs time 19x9.5 is desent for a stock fender and penske shocks.

I had my stock wheels widen to 10in and was able to run 305/30/18 MT drag radials. I have coil overs and MAP trailing arms.

A 305/30-18 tire is only 25.2 inches tall compared to the factory 26.6, so probably works in a drag tire scenario but I don't think anyone will be running a street tire in that short of a tire...I hope.

I see some guys running shorter tires all the time.....no one make a 35, but you could go with a 40 and change gears to 3.9......

^The shortest street tire I've seen on a V is a 245/40-18 and even that is 25.7 inches tall. I'm just saying the 305/40-18 is starting to get close to the extreme side of short on a v1 for a street tire...being over 5% shorter than the factory diameter. Putting on a street tire THAT much shorter than the factory diameter is not a common practice. Unless you run a six deuce impala.

I think he is mixed up. My doesn't make a 305/30 tire.

They make a 315/30 and a 305/35 in 18

Look at the website if you don't believe me

I think the 305 is 26in tall and the 315 is pretty close to it.

This is why i asked for a part number.
MT only has 305/35/18 not 30's listed.
