Default oil pressure send switch

My oil pressure sender switch went out on my 05 V. This thing is a bitch to get at. Since i have a maggie i pulled it forward several inches but am still having issues loosening it. Does the ls6 maggie valley cover interfere with the rotation of the sender? do i need to clearance the valley cover somehow or am I missing something?

Im not super familiar with the ls6 yet, but on my 4.8 truck I had to buy the socket for it, thats very thin walled, otherwise the socket feels like its on but its really hitting the cam sensor. If the cam sensor is in the rear top on these motors too thats whats happening. Once I got the thin socket it took 5 minutes

You can get a mirror back there to check. I have a maggied LS6 and I had to clearance my valley cover, remove the cam sensor bolt, rotate the cam sensor (not pull the sensor off - just rotate it) to get the metal bracket away from the oil pressure switch, and finally use a stubby wrench to remove the switch.

Others have recommended the thin-walled socket, but I never bought one. I'm not sure if you would still need to clearance the valley cover with a thin-walled socket.

you can get the special wrench at any good parts store.

My valley cover had to be cut considerably to get a socket to fit on it. It was a very tight fit. I had to remove all the bolts and slide the valley cover over to change it until I did this.

I'm dealing with the same issue now.
Any suggestions?

Like heavy said you can pull the valance off and the windshield wiper mechanism to get better access. I had to pull the blower and valley cover to change it last time but it's trimmed up to let me get a socket on it next time.

I bought my car with the blower so I didn't have the pleasure of installing it.
I've looked thought the install instructions and have a decent idea of what's needed. How long do you think it'll take for the average wrench turner?

Really you will need a hand to get the blower off and back on. It's pretty heavy. It's really not much more difficult than pulling a regular intake besides that.

seriously, you can do it in less then 1/2 hour, if you don't remove the wiper mechanism

3 hours if you remove it.

make sure you buy the brass body replacement sender unit.

i ended up pulling the supercharger and sliding it forward several inches and then covering the ports and dremmeling the valley cover in between it and the oil pressure sender. what a bitch. of course in the process of muscling the supercharger around i snapped a intake manifold gasket. FML

Believe it or not I already tried a specific socket. I even ground down the wall and that didn't help. I then bought a wrench and modified it and that didn't help. Literally 6 hrs later I was able to take a pic and I'm 90% sure that a flat of the sensor it flush with the blowr/valley and not allowing it to turn at all.

I had the same problem at first and Dremeld the bugger to make clearance, that is why i pulled the wiper assay.

After that, replacement is "duck soup" as i can do it by feel.

FYI, i have replaced at least four of these.

if you want to pop one, just accidentally hit the gas when cold.

On the C5's they relocate them for this.

If I remove the wiper assembly is there plenty of room to sneak a dremel down in there? I'd hate to pull it only to be up **** creek. lol
Don't happen to have pics do you?

That is what i did.

A good light helps to.

Just make sure you remember the washers and where they go on the wiper assembly .

You might need some penetrating oil to get the wiper assay loose, you'll see.

The wiper assembly and facia really block access.

Sounds good, I'm just paranoid that I'll get a little carried away with the dremel. Lol
