Default Hot air @ feet with HVAC off?

I notice every now and then that I get hot air blowing in around the foot wells (from the vents) when I'm driving around with the HVAC off. When it's not winter I almost always have the windows down and the HVAC off, but once the car is at operating temps, etc I start feeling the hot air coming in intermittently... Is this normal, or a sign of something I need to look into (heater core)?

My car does the exact same thing. It can be remedied by hitting the HVAC recirc button and the heat will no longer pour onto your feet.

i gave it an attempt but ran out of time. finding a valve small enough to fit in the space i had is going to be tough and the valve referenced in the link above was out of stock...

Good to know. I'll give the recirc. button a shot next time. Thanks!

That should do it. Usually the fresh air intakes are at the base of the windshield. I'd imagine this car is no different based on the location of the cabin filter

So without a visible heater control valve, does hot water continue to circulate through the heater core even with the AC on or is there a control valve under the dash somewhere?

the v2 guys say they got good results putting a shut off valve in the heater hose...IDK??

To clarify for future readers, the OP is discussing hot/warm air entering the cabin (via the foot vents) when all HVAC controlls are OFF. This is not about the AC blowing warm, etc...

Funny this thread shows up now, as the same thing started happening to me just yesterday.
