Default Long trip

This post isn't about any issues I encountered, well one. It's mostly a fell good tale of the V. Just got in to Wasco, Oregon after a 1000+ mile trip. Car did great. Got almost 24 mpg at an average of about 74mph and there are quite a few hilly bits in northern California on the 5 and highway 97. Even got a little hauling *** canyon carving in up here until the oil read 260° on the temp gauge, it was about 105° up here. When I parked it, I left the parking lights on and killed the battery though. To busy bullshitting after I got out to notice... Oh well. It's on a trickle now so well see if I need to get a new battery before my drive home. 10 year old car... Will be at 97k miles when it's all said and done. Those seats do get a tad uncomfortable after about the 900 miles though lol

haha, yea I am not a fan of the seats. I have driven my 06 on about 6 or 7 5+ hour journeys...Did just as expected. Do you operate your lights manually? I leave my lights all in auto and have not had any problems.

Well on two lane roads I turned them on during the day because I didn't want someone to not see my car from a distance and try and pass. I usually leave them in auto though.

Normally the car will turn everything off once the battery gets low.

But yeah, it's not a bad car to drive cross country with even once modded. I've driven mine from WY to AL and back and then from WY to DC for good.

I go 6hrs to my inlaws a few times a year. I love it. Way better than my subies and the wife's corolla. If u think the V has bad seats try the same trip in an econo car lol.

Yea Isis I do think the seats are real comfy. But compared to another Cadillac for a long trip, not as good. My uncle has a DTS and that thing I could drive non stop to the moon and back its so easy to just cruise. I just hit tons if traffic and construction areas from Stockton to the Oregon/California birder so it was constant shifting and it gets old after being on the road for a whole day already. My wife has a Ford Escape and that isn't very bad to road trip in. But the next vehicle I want is a 1500 denali or some such. They are really comfortable and one could tow my car to the track when I finish building it.

The ctsv seats are a little narrow. I kinda fidget from side to side trying to get in between the bolsters and I'm a normal sized guy. The do offer good support though.

Nice trip btw! Just did an all day up to the mackinaw bridge from Detroit. Wish my driveshaft weren't on the way out!

That's good to hear about no issues (aside from the battery dying)
Im about to get one of these cars and was wondering about the reliability of them with long trips. I know my old camaro would not have lasted a good 1000+ miles

Just got back from a 1,000 mile trip myself!

Averaged 27.1mpg round trip and 31.7mpg on the last 130 miles! Those are calculated #s too, not the #s generated by the computer.

Turned over 102,000 miles on that trip!

Ohhh no, I have a stock '04 with just an intake, muffler delete and coilovers on it. I've had the stock '04 for a long time. The blower car is a new (to me) project.

I believe the blower car will do 20ish highway if you keep your foot out of it

I flew to D.C. to pick up my V and then did a 800 mile trip back to Florida the second day I owned it, ha. Was the easiest road trip I can remember by far, definitely inspired some confidence in the car -- you never know buying used. I averaged about 24mpg on that trip.

Just got home a while ago. Made it home just fine. Total miles was 2400+/- a few and an average of about 24mpg at 75mph. Not too shabby for a giant car with a big V8.

I got $3k from harvest too so after I pay some bills off I'll have about $1500 to spend on the Cadillac. Going to finally get my new clutch, motor mounts, trans mount, cradle bushings, sway bar bushings, maybe new end links too. I almost want to wait til black Friday sales but that's like 4 months away... Hard to let that kind of parts money just burn a hole in my pocket.

Oh maybe some electric cutouts also. I was having fun pissing off the environmentalists up in Washington with my loud exhaust. I got the finger multiple times when dropping down a few to pass people... Or maybe I just really startled them haha.

That's about what my car just did this weekend to Reno. On the info screen it says I averaged 24 mpg. If i do the math off the amount of fuel I topped off before heading home, I only used 10 gallons on a 270 mile one way trip. 27 mpg. Not bad for a 250k mile stock daily driver lol
