Default Carbon Fiber V1 hood interest

Touching on something that came up in a different thread last week. I am bouncing around the idea of making a hood for my V. Depending how much interest I will get it done by year end or push it out until the spring.

Since it is full race I am looking to mimic the V1 World Challenge design with louvers in it (similar to Naf's) I want it out of carbon fiber to save weight and I want extractors to aid in airflow/heat/vehicle dynamics.

Once the tooling is done, the part can be made but they aren't cheap by any means. Keep in mind the part needs to be purchased, designed with clay and then tooling (molds) needs to be made. The material has to be purchased and then formed so I am in for a hefty outlay.

In any event, the numbers work out to be at least $1,500-$1,800 plus shipping by the time all is said and done. Pricing can come down but I'd have to buy material in bulk for that to happen.
I realize there's not many looking to step up for that but if there is any interest, let me know...

Too much want.

Unfortunately, also too rich for my blood right now. Cant wait to see how it comes out though!

Loved watching this car race, it was a total beast!!!

Yes. I'd be in. More along the lines of 1,500$ though. And not full race in the sense that it obviously bolts up to stock and uses the stock latch.

Note: I'm in only because I assume this will take months to complete. I don't have 1,500$ for a good currently, but in 4 months I'd be ready.

Yes, it would have all of the stock mounting hardware built into the hood so its a bolt on affair. Just mount the stock chrome trim on the front and be done...

Junior, you thinking of building this yourself, or contract with a shop?

I've got no composite experience but I've spent a good year or two tracking down the tooling and designer of some of the parts.
After numerous dead ends I'm thinking of just funding the project from scratch myself and will offer them out to try and recoup some of the initial outlay...

Out. No additional hood clearance. BUT - Thanks for bringing another option to the community.

This hood with the same design of the extreme composites would have already sent funds

Guys just to clarify: I am NOT making these myself. I have traced the V program back to one of the original sources and am working with them to produce parts for my vehicle.
This is full on OEM manufacturer type clay modeling/design work. It's not a random composite shop that I convinced to make parts for me and it doesn't come cheap.
Once I am done with the hood, I will continue to make other replacement panels until I am done with the car or go broke

I'd pay 1,800$ for a CF trunk lid. Yeah! Get them to make fenders, hoods, and trunk lids again!!! Lol

LOL trunk lid is probably next. Doors to follow. No rush on fenders as I already have a set. The stock panels should end up easier and cheaper...

I'd be interested in a hood. What are you planning on doing with the washer nozzles? I'd be ok with relocating them under the cowl area and off the top side of the hood to clean it up even more.

Haven't made a final decision on them yet.
I don't need them for my intended use but I also don't want it to be a deal breaker for anyone.
I can live with them on my car, in order to avoid having someone need to take a cutting wheel to a brand new hood that they just dropped 2k on.
I'll speak with my guy to see if there is an easy option.

I'm interested in all of the parts mentioned. Hopefully life will quit getting in the way of enjoying the car how I've meant to.

I too would have interest in some of the other parts mentioned for later projects, but currently I am really looking for something with added hood clearance for later projects of my own. Thanks for investing your time in these types of much needed options for the community!

I hope this works out--it's always good to have a selection to choose from. Since I've been unhappy with the fitment of my Extreme Composites hood, I ordered up one of these guys for $1300 on the 16th. No shipping information yet (5 days later), so we'll see how things progress.
