Default 2005 CTS V Hard to Shift into 1st

My car seems difficult to shift into 1st gear sometimes, I have to pull down to 2nd then up to 1st. Is this normal? Seems to be harder once the car is warmed up. 2005 with 36k miles, I got it about a month ago, so I don't know how it is supposed to feel.

First thing I'd do is change the clutch fluid out and see if that helps.

Try letting out of the clutch then trying again. From what I understand it's syncros in the tranny not lining up because they aren't being turned by the motor.

Only first? stock clutch? Try bleeding the clutch and change the fluid if it looks black. Then maybe change tranny fluid. Those things won't hurt even if they don't help.

Shouldn't be harder when warm?

to the OP: When does this normally occur? Is it everytime you go into first?

Mine would do it in 1st and reverse since that's the only gear that I'd be at a stand still.

Mine seems to act up more when it's warm. Occasionally I have an issue when I'm going to 3rd, mostly if I'm granny shifting. It's really intermittant.

Even though the fluid in my clutch reservoir looks great, I am going to flush that and the tranny fluid because like you said, it can't hurt.

Yes it's the stock clutch. It happens in 1st, and reverse and is definately more noticable when warm.

normally a slight blip(raise rpm to 12-1500) of the throttle would make mine go in, you get used to doing it after a while

It's to insure you already have road rage before you pull into traffic.

Do the aftermarket short shifters help with this at all?
