Default Project EFI to Carb in my 2007 Silverado

Well, I've decided to do something a little bit different from the normal this next year on my truck. Most people will say "what a dumb idea" blah blah blah, but I'm going to take a bit of an old school approach at going fast next year.

The parts list I have worked up so far is:
Quickfuel 950cfm e85 Carb
MSD 6LS Ignition
20gallon Aluminum Fuel cell
Holley Billet 150 fuel pump w/12-803 regulator
Push lock fuel line

Still trying to figure out which throttle pedal to use and which/how long of throttle cable I need to buy. Thinking prolly just a 99-02 silverado pedal and some kind of Lokar cable. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

What manifold did you choose?

Let me know if you still need the parts for the build. I have the MSD, Holley and tons of fittings in stock with discounts for members!

Looks like you are headed in the right direction!

I'm glad to see you're a sponsor here. I've been talking to you on yellowbullet about all my fuel system parts(parker07)

I already have the MSD. I haven't made my mind up on the intake just yet. Can't decide between the vic jr or super vic

Mainly just to try something new. I've never owned a vehicle with a carb before. People think we'll pick up a good amount of power this way. Which, granted, I could pick up power by putting better fuel injection components on as well i.e. bigger injectors, intake, throttle body etc etc...This way is cheaper and simpler and something I've wanted to do. I'm going from a stock 78mm truck intake with stock throttle body to this, so I'm sure it will be a considerable increase in power. It made 400+ to the tires as it sits. If it doesn't, oh well. It will be a fun project and a learning experience

Just thought of a possible obstacle. Since I'll be doing away with factory PCM, how will I start my truck? I had to hook my park neutral switch up before it would run when I put the new trans in

Basically I don't know if the pcm tells the bcm anything that will cause troubles once the pcm is gone. Thanks

I don't understand. Isn't this a tech site where people come to ask questions or am I in the wrong place again?

Correct.

Just seems like a lot of reverse work for a nice truck that has a lot of nice parts already....? There is always the autometer gauges, and carb it, get a manual box for the 80e and rock on I guess...

See, you're jumping to conclusions before you obviously read my entire post. I don't have and 80"e". I have a full manual 4L80...no electronic control. I'm now getting rid of the factory fuel injection in way of a carburetor...After doing this, I plan to remove the factory pcm to save what little weight I can AND clean up the engine bay at the same time. I already have a Racepak as well so no need for autometer gauges.

Back to my question, the only thing I'm really unclear on is if I need to figure something else out when it comes to starting my truck after the swap is complete. I figured someone had been there, done that and would have some friendly advice.

Just make a simplified ignition switch/power supply harness as a part of cleaning and lightening things up.

I personally am all for the idea. I don't have time to learn how to learn how to tune efi myself right now so I am sticking with a carb on my swap for simplification and ease of tuning myself. Regardless of your reason I think it's cool. Driveability may suffer minutely but i bet that if tuned with a wideband it'll be quicker and faster.

Thank you very much. I have no problem tuning efi. It's one thing I've learned that I'm pretty proud of. Now I get to learn to tune a carb!

I figured a solution out if this problem does present itself. I over complicate things at times and just need another set of eyes/ears to set me straight and tell me its not that hard. Thanks guys

Sounds like what you are doing is somewhat unique. You might have a tough time finding someone who has done exactly what you are doing.

Looks like you are headed for a few quality hours with a wiring schematic to bypass the PCM in the ignition switch. There will be very few wires for the motor itself. You need switched 12V for the MSD box and alternator, then a separate start wire to the starter. The only other worry for me would be the rest of the body electrical stuff. But sounds like you have the background to figure that out.

By the way, don't feed the trolls.
