Default couple of ?'s: what programmer, what cfm carb

Ok, getting close to that time, so i have some questions for you guys. So ill tell you the setup.

LS2 block, 6.0 crank(truck crank b/c the LS2 one was no good), LS3 rods with ARP rod bolts, Mahle pistons with valve reliefs made bigger for LS3 valve, LG G6X3 cam on a 109lsa, stock LS3 heads, and Edelbrock L92 carb intake manifold.

So i ask you, what size carb do i think i will need, and what controller to go with? Go for the MSD? Or the one GM makes?

Carb size depends on a lot of factors. What is the estimated weight of the vehicle? What transmission and rear gear? If its an auto, what converter? And what will the vehicle be used primarilly for? Or you just call up Pro Systems and tell them your specs and let them build you a carb. Eric L

The GM ignition box sure looks like the MSD unit repackaged with their label. MSD makes the one for Edlebrock too.

Probably 99% of the guys on here run the MSD unit, so you will get biased answers. Unless you are doing something way out of the ordinary it is hard to go wrong with that box.

The standard answer on carbs is to "call pro systems". However there is at least one respected member on here who bought a pro systems and now is telling people to get a quick fuel. Pro systems has some nice stuff and lots of guys have good luck with them, but sometimes it isn't as easy as one phone call.

Prosystems is local to me here in west Michigan, so thats why I go through them. IMHO quick fuels are also real good carbs.

weight should be around 3100, tranny is in the sig its a th400 with a 4400 stall, and is going to be primarily a drag car with some street use.

i thought of it, but after talking to the guys at LG for a couple of days, we chose to go with there g6x3 cam on a 109. several reasons for this and i want to see what is does since it makes good numbers.

thats what i thought with GM, didnt know that about the edlebrock ones. if u read about the gm one in the performance order book, it seems to be the same thing as MSD so idk

An 850 should work fine with that combo in that light weight of a combo. But being that light you could also get away with more CFM. Eric L

Yup. The LS engines seem to like a little more carburation than the typical "small block". Eric L
