What is the D/A where you live? I would have guessed that combo to be closer to 6.50s

Da was 1606. I wish it would do 6.50 on motor, 6.30-6.50 on bottle

Would seem not to be hitting as it should, I have gone that fast at 3450 and a 6 speed 1 pass with milled 317s, congrats on a new best!

This car should be flying. What kind of timing are you throwing at it? You definitly should be in the 6.xx's

I think we'd need a little more info on the combo to say it should run a lot faster. He said it's a LQ4, so I'm assuming stock dish pistons? If the heads haven't been cut, it's compression is only gonna be 9.4:1 at best.

I have a very similar setup but a LQ9 short block and run 6.80's on motor at 102 MPH with a DA of 3200, But I have more compression. I run 32 degrees timing.

That thing has to be faster. My car with me is 3700+ lbs. I have a little 2800 converter, 3.90 gears and probably a much smaller cam. My car runs 7.20s in good weather and 7.30 in the heat.

He is 500 lbs lighter, has a 4200 stall and 4.56 gears. Our heads are probably about equal. Literally the only advantage I have on him is 10.8:1 compression to his 9.4 to 1. There are guys with cam only lq4s going faster than him in stangs.

Now if you were to tell me he has a nitrous cam and a nitrous tune and the car busts out a 5.90 on a 150 shot, then no worries, but is that the case?

I'm sure the car should roll out on spray, Lower compression and the stall is probably tight for the motor application.

My point on compression came from a friends EFI Camaro. He spun a bearing in his LS1, it had made 420 to the tires with that combo. He bought an LQ4 and put his top end on it. It only made 350 to the tires when he had it re tuned.

Hopefully the OP just has some tweaking to do.

Everyone says my car should be faster too, but I'm happy with it.

.6 points of compression is not going to make 70 HP difference apples to apples, let alone a bigger motor. Your buddy had something else going on.

Heads are off the shelf l92s, bottom end is all stock. I need to get a diff throttle cable the stock stang one doesnt seem to be going wot unless u put all ur weight to the pedal. I thought i was about right on et, i figured it has a 6.9x in it on motor. Timing was at 32 by 3000 flat after 3000. Two step was at 3600. Streetknight what are u using for a throttle cable? This car has been 9.9x in the 1/4 fyi i would love to b faster so if anyone has advice lmk!

Tigg, the EFI cars only change was the short block, same guy tuned it both times and those were the results, if car had other issues, tuner didn't find them lol.

OP, I'm using stock cable, but have a csr bracket, it was on car when I bought it. I also wonder what your compression is. I have flat tops and my heads milled .030" with stock head gaskets I have 10.5:1. Yours has to be low 9's. How big is the cam?

Maybe my car is a Turd lol. It only 60's low 1.50's. Been 6.85 @ 102 and 10.71 @ 127.35. My car is also 100# lighter than yours.

I would look at this as a good thing. I think it means there is a ton more in your car just waiting to get out. You will find it.

I dont know exact cam specs, all i know is that its a custom comp cam with .620 lift, i talked to the builder of the car and he said it was in his buddys 1300hp vette that was procharged if i remember right and it worked good so they left it. i have already had plans for head work and a custom cam to my specs at some point. car builder told me it made 440 to the wheels on motor but i have no paper work to go with that.

Well a blower cam will not produce naturally aspirated if that is the case.
