I imagine if any one could benefit from it, I would figure us carb guys would. I just wrapped mine saterday while i have my motor out changing a few things. Just wondering if any of you guys have noticed a difference in performance at full operating temp?

Mine are ceramic coated so I figured id never need to wrap but I did notice them get hot on a cruise one night after I first got it running... plus theyre corroding. Maybe wrapping would help?

corroding? dang. that's a bummer. they are not cheap to coat. Wrapping both my headers took longer than it did to take the trans and motor out of the car.... lol. Grab a beer and sit in for the long haul. I had some really tight clearances, it was like a puzzle.

Yeah they werent cheap headers. Like 860$ from bmp for the s10 swap 1-7/8 lt's ill get a pic of them and throw it up. Maybe a sos pad and some elbow grease would clean them up....?

I have always heard wrapping headers traps moisture and make them rust faster.

I would check with the place you got them and see if they have a warranty on the coating. Properly coated headers shouldn't do that.

Wrapping headers will make them rust faster.

They were sold from bmp as is no warranties because 1-7/8 is considered a "race size" and racing parts carry no warranties... I wouldnt take them out of the truck even if someone paid me to do it tho... they werent easy getting in lol. Ill stay away from wrap then

I have TSP Stainless 1 7/8 headers. Luckily I don't have to worry about the rust. I don't know much about the coating process.

Combine a little road salt with the trapped moisture from header wrap and you will.

I think it helps with under hood temps. I have the headers wrapped on my 68 Camaro, but they were already trashed before I did it. Good ol Hooker ceramic coated headers!. The finish started falling off after 6 months and no, they wont warranty it. Its always you the consumers fault when that happens, because you are suppose to let them cool after you drive them, then wipe them down to make sure nothing is on them, every time! It works steve. I just don't know to what extent as far as real world gains.

The whole reason I ask is because when my car is cold the has amazing off idle rpm response while in neutral. But when the car is hot, its not nearly as responsive.
