2015 SpeedMullet updates

We opted to go to an Outlaw Street Car Shootout at Cecil County Dragway on Saturday. It was a great outing. My cousin joined me in the dirtybird (his 87 GTA bracket car) and had a good outing as well. Though he went out first round, he got some great data for the changes we recently made to his car.
I made it past first round, but slept a bit at the tree in second round (.059 to his .019 light) and refused to give up the stripe. I pedaled it a little and still went a 10.26 on a 10.29 dial. This is the fastest pass in summer weather (about 2000-2200' DA...we need a weather station as the GPS based services we rely on normally were not working, so we were kind of guessing.) and only .01 off from my fastest pass ever (which was made in 3700' better air last fall!) looking at the run, the car would have gone a 10.24 had i stayed in it.
a few things to note: i love .500 pro tree also, the pedal stop was a waste as the clutch would not disengage far enough to shift gears well and i missed 3rd gear on my first pass. i pulled the pedal stop bolt out and was left with just the pedal stop boss (the lug nut i welded/frenched into the floor) which seemed to be just enough. the car went 1.47, 1.44, and 2 1.43 60's, and is becoming very repeatable. I'm hoping our outing for Yellow Bullet in the beginning of September is a similar showing, if not better
good air coming in October/November should put this thing into the 9's with ease

i can physically do that, but it effects my reaction times. Talking with Ray and a few other fast t56 guys, they do a clutch dump as well to keep reaction times consistent. i was .040-.060 all day saturday on the .500 pro tree. I believe once shock valving is addressed and i get a longer torque arm, a lot of this will go away. unfortunately it's a money thing, and i have bigger fish to fry (ie, i really need to get a full cage in the car, and my wife really needs a newer, bigger daily driver to accommodate baby).

a long waited project has begun to take shape this weekend. I had an air pan before that i built probably 8 or more years ago. This pan was used with many combinations and was normally worth about a tenth depending on air conditions and such. the old pan simply would not fit with the new intake and hood combo, so time to make a new. i'll pick up some sheet aluminum from lowes or the like later this week, but figured i'd share the mock up process
racing on the 22nd. want to have this pan with me by then.
